CEMETERIES: John Chandler Cemetery, Taylor Co., Kentucky old Green Co., KY I have some directions to the John Chandler Cem. The book these came from was a very old book, called the Chandler family, or something like that. John Chandler Cemetery ? mile NE of Fairview school on New Salem Church road, and on North side of road in grove of trees on Willard ,looks like Mendell's, place. (north of Campbellsville Ky., on Hodgenville Road Hwy #210). These are all the stones to be found with inscriptions. The are others with just --------- slabs------in row of Horatio there are two others which might be parents of Horatio. Unless there are other burying grounds, and it is not thought probable, in as much as this was the home place, John and Elizabeth Chandler are buried here; probably Horatio's first wife and several infants. I didn't make a note of the book this is from. It is may bekept at the state archive in Frankfort. I couldn't read how many miles NE it is. The copy wass not so good. From the John Chandler Cem. A straight line between them would be just a little shorter. These were the only two enumeration districts in the county for that year, so presumably people from the different districts could have lived next to each other or at opposite ends of the county.
Greetings, can anyone tell me the approximate distance and travel time between these two places listed in the 1860 Virginia Census? 1. Halifax Co, VA Southern District, Halifax Courthouse P.O. And 2. Halifax Co, VA Northern District, Scottsburg P.O. Thanks in advance, Larry
I have been searching for my grandpa’s father for a number of years now. You wouldn’t think it would be that difficult, but I’ve found that information at the turn of the 20th century to be rather limited and with the loss of the 1890 census a road to no where. What I do know: 1. William Franklin (Frank) Chandler was born in AR in 1905 to “Frank” Chandler and Sarah M “Ada” Chambers Davis Dunn. “Frank” died after grandpa was born and Ada came back to AL, most likely Franklin Co as her parents were in Russellville. 2. “Frank” had a son from a prior marriage, Chester born 1895 TX, who must have come back with them. He later married Mary “unknown” who was born in AL. In 1920, they were in Yell Co AR. In 1930, they were back in AL living in the Bethel community, Colbert Co. They had 4 children: Herbert, Juanita, Alice, and William. Chester died in 1933 and William was born that same year after his father’s death. 3. Herbert worked for the TVA and William lived in Muscle Shoals off Sixth Street. Their mother died in the 70’s and both Chester and Mary are buried at Gargis Cemetery. It’s my belief that “Frank” Chandler met and married Ada probably in Franklin Co. Ada’s 2nd husband, Walter Dunn, died in the early 1900’s and again she probably went back to her folks. I am relating this in hopes that someone can help me with finding the families of Herbert and William. My dad knows that Herbert worked for the TVA (Wilson Dam) and stayed in the area. Dad also told me that William lived up the road from my grandparents. I’m hoping that information may have been passed down relating to “Frank” since Chester was about 10 years older than my grandpa and would have memories of his father. Any help would be appreciated. Hi ! Glen, I have been looking for any information on the CHANDER lines that might lead to my fathers parents. My father Joe Buster Chandler b, 09/09/1899 in Spokane, WA. stated on the 1930 census that his parents were from Michigan. Do you know of any of your CHANDER's going to Washington State ? I've reached a complete block in my Chandler line!!! I can't locate the birth record of William Chandler proving that he might possibly be the son of Zachariah Chandler b. 1780 VA. Zachariah moved to Franklin Co., GA during the early 1800's and on to Coweta Co., GA where he died in June 6, 1836. William traveled from Georgia to AL about 1837 prior to moving on to Union Co., AR. His first four children were born in AL. Their names were Crawford Clark Chandler b. 1838, Martha A."Anna" Chandler b. 1839, Samuel Chandler b. 1841 and Henry Lee Chandler b. 1843. If any has a connection to this family I would love to hear from you!!! Thanks,
Hi everyone I have just adopted a few mailing lists at Rootsweb, CHANDLER-L is one of those. I just want to invite everyone to post to the list. A quiet list doesn't help anyone! ;-) A few list guidelines: 1. Don't *flame* anyone. Basically, this just means be nice. If someone is rude through the list, they'll be removed. 2. If you don't like what someone posted through the list, do not respond to the list. Chances are, we won't like your reponse either. Rest assured, I am watching the list and will take the necessary steps when any OT mail, spam or rude remarks are sent. 3. No off-topic posts. Do *not* post virus warnings, chain letters, etc. 4. Post your queries to the list!!! If we don't post, no one will benefit. 5. No "Roll Calls". I hope the list is used all the time, not only at a time when someone yells roll call. Attempts to call for a roll call can get the person removed from the list. I hope everyone will begin to use this list to find their ancestors! 8-) Ruth rosemunda@earthlink.net
