    1. Charlotte Chandeler or Chandelieror Chandler
    2. Marilyn Bess
    3. The only public record that I have found of the woman that I am searching for is on the second marriaage application of her only known child. Martha Adeline Hibbard Shaver Mattison known as Addie. In 1905 in Stueben county, NY , Addie married George Matison. On her marriage application she says her parents were Hiram and Charlotte Chandelier Hibbard. Charlotte may have been born or lived in Yates County, NY. In checking the marriage licnses of all of Addie 13 chidlren it is agreed that she was born in Sunderlinville, Hector County, PA. Family tradition says that Hiram Hibbard was killed in the Civil War. It may be that Charlotte is dead by 1880. In 1880, Addie is living in Michigan with her first husband Frank Shaver. They are living next to Frank's parents, John and Juliette Chase Shaver. Any and all help and suggestion willbe appreciated. Thank you in advance Marilyn Bess

    3. Hello Amanda In the 1930 US Census, the property at 601 Shastel in Ward 4, Block 800, Enumeration District 55-125, Oklahoma City was occupied by 6 families, one of which was Carl M Chandler aged 29, a Truck Driver for a Transfer Company born in Arkansas as were both his parents, his wife Jewel J Chandler aged 25 born Arkansas as was her mother, though her father was born in Pennsylvania, and their son Dale L Chandler aged 6 also born in Arkansas. They paid $32 per month rental for their accommodation at 601 Shastel. That's all I have time for just now, but at least that will give you a start. 2. Hi ! Don, Yes ! This is a hit. I knew my father died in San Diego County in 1984. The survivors knew nothing of his past. Joe stated that he was born and raised in Spokane County, Washington until 1920's when he came to California. He could not recall anything in his past life in Washington other than he insisted that that was where he lived. I have not yet found not him on any census other than 1930. 2. Hi ! Don, I have searched just about everywhere and everything I can think of to find my father Joe B. Chandler. I have looked at that Joseph B. Chandler in Nahcotta Twp and according to the death records this Joseph died before my father. I too could not read his work place. I thought maybe Commacho's as in a fruit or vegetable farm. My father left Washington State in early 1920's and shows up on the California directories in 1927. I have never found any records prior to this. I have his marriage application and certificate in 1930 which states his father's name as A. J. Chandler. On his Social Security application in 1937 his father's name is stated as John J. Chandler, mother;s maiden name unknown. He said his mother died abt. 1902/3. He said he drove from Washington to California so I thought maybe his driver's license would show his Washington address, but I do not know how to go about getting information from the Spokane DMV. Best Regards; Dave Chandler - Famsource@aol.com In a message dated 7/24/2004 8:56:41 AM Pacific Standard Time, LazyTombstone writes: Dave, Are you sure about birth place and date. A quick search of the census shows a Joseph B Chandler in 1920 living in Washington State, Pacific County, Nahcotta Twp born in Ill. Father born Ind. Mother born Iowa. age 25 working as a foreman, where or for who is not readable. It lists an age of 25 born est. year 1894. Washington death index shows a Joseph B Chandler died in Kennewick Wash. at age 60 on 26 Jan 1954 cert #19. Does any of this match up with what you know. If this is him he should also show on the Social Security death index or have an application for an SS number somewhere with his parents listed on it as well as place of birth. Don

    1. Spokane, WA.- Chandler search help.
    2. This is a real long shot, but is all I have left to find any information on my father Joe B. Chandler b. 1899 in Spokane, WA. Joe said he left school in the third grade at the age of eight, (approx. 1908). I have no idea which school he attended, but presume it was one of those shown below in Spokane. If the eighth grade exams were a graduation, Joe may have mistaken the eight grade for the third. In any case I need help from anyone who is knowledgeable on how to go about finding a school census that might show Joe B. Chandler between 1905-1910. I am really hoping for his living location and parents names. I live in Southern California, so do not have the free access to records as noted; There is no charge to place a research request with the Archives. Additionally, there is no charge for simple retrieval of documents. If a particular request appears to warrant research fees, Archives staff will notify the researcher before proceeding. There is no fee for individuals to conduct research in person at the archives. The Spokane County folder contains several reference materials. All district #81 records are currently kept by district #81. Please contact them at: District 81, Student Records, 200 N. Bernard, Spokane, WA 99201, Phone: (509) 353-3726. 3. Hi Patricia Your William and Christina Chandler are probably the ones aged 72 and 64 respectively who appear in Lot (i.e. township) 48 (in Bedford Parish), Queens County, PEI in the 1901 Census of Canada. Wm was born 10 March 1828 and Christina 5 March 1836. Living with them were daughter Mary J Chandler born 23 August 1876, son Westaway Chandler born 23 Feb 1877 and grandson John S McRae born 28 March 1901 (shown as 1891 in the database I found them in, but as he is only 3 days old that must be an error). In the 1881 Census of Canada, 1828 William's family (household 145) was in the same area as before - Lot 48 PEI. William, a Farmer, is 52, born in England. Christina, of Scottish origin but born PEI (as were all the children), is 45. As to their children, Wiiliam A, a Carpenter, is 25: Flora is 23: Donald (I think this must be a transcription error for your Daniel) is a Tanner aged 21: Albert is a Farmer of 19: the rest are Margaret (14), James H (12), George S (10), John A (8), Charles A (6), Mary J (5)and Roger W (3). Their religion is recorded as Presbyterian. In the 1841 Census of PEI there is a Farmer William Chandler at Lot 48 who could be the father of Farmer William above. There are 9 people in the household - 2 are males aged under 16 (one of whom could be 1828 William), 2 are males aged 16 to 45 (one of whom must be William Senior), 3 are females under 16 and 2 are females aged 16 to 45. Six were from England and three born at PEI. The ones from England paid their own passage (they did not borrow money from a Proprietor to pay for their passage - in those days, townships were owned by Proprietors - in 1863 the owners of Lot 48 were Col. P. Stewart, Capt. Bryne, and others). The CHANDLERs held 100 acres of second best quality on a 999 year lease of which 7 years had expired (this and the three PEI births may give a clue when they left England - about 1834?) at a rent of one pound sterling per year. 30 acres were arable, and in 1840 they produced 45 bushels of wheat, 150 of oats, 30 of barley and 500 of potatoes, and supported 2 horses, 8 cattle, 15 sheep and 6 pigs. In the 1881 Census, the older William is still in lot 48 (district 2 sub-district P page 43 household 131), a Widower Farmer aged 84 living alone (Household 130). In an adjacent household (no 131) is James Chandler (56), another Farmer born in England, probably another of the older William's sons. His wife Jane is 55, born PEI as are their children Eliza A (32), Charles A (23) also a Farmer, Barbara (18), Sarah J (12), George (7), Emma L (4)and Ira (female - 2). The only William Chandler I can find in Hutchinson's 1864 Directory of PEI is a Seaman in Charlottetown with a house at Fitzroy near Weymouth. At lot 48 (Southport), there is an Edward Chandler, Blacksmith. The only relevant Farmers I can find are John and Thomas CHANOLER (note spelling) at Lot 24 (Wheatley River). In Lovell's 1871 PEI Directory, Edward Chandler is shown as "livery, blacksmith, farmer". Thomas Chandler is still at Wheatley River. John Chandler is at Winslow Road, a village in lot 33, 8 miles from Charlottetown. I don't know if any of this paragraph is relevant, but I record it for future reference just in case. I hope this helps you. I would love to have details of the later Chandler descendants to help me with the One-Name Study I am doing, if you would share them with me in confidence - my direct e-mail address is dchandler@sunwave.net If you are curious, the explanation of a One-Name Study can be found at http://www.one-name.org/ Best wishes for now Dick Chandler in Salmon Arm, British Columbia, Canada, researching the CHANDLER and HADATH surnames ----- Original Message ----- From: "Patrica Wright" <maya@stgelais.com> To: <CHANDLER-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, July 17, 2004 7:16 AM Subject: [CHANDLER] Daniel (David) Martin Chandler > Hi; > > I have a Daniel Martin Chandler s/o William & Christina Chandler born October 2, 1859 PEI, Canada who married Jane/Jennie Harrison d/o John A. & Agnes Harrison born December 10, 1871 Rexton, Kent, NB Canada.
