I'm new on the Chandler list. Searching for William F. Chandler, born on 27 April 1861 perhaps in east Texas. He died 5 June 1925. He was married to Linda, born 8 March 1872. Linda died 6 Jan. 1919. The only other family information I have is on one son, my grandfather, Earnest D. Chandler, born 1893 in east Texas, died 13 Jan. 1977, in Shawnee, OK. I'm a descendant of Riland (born 13 Dec 1767-VA). Let me say this-- I attended my very first Chandler Family Reunion this past month (in TX- a three-day affair), and I have never attended a friendlier, more informative, nor more pleasurable affair in my life. Books galore to copy or purchase, computer print-outs, pictures, stories, and plenty of one-on-one help. It was well-arranged, well planned, and in excellent facilities. Next year it will be held back in Georgia again. The dates and place will be posted here when plans are finalized. I wouldn't miss it myself. August 1784 Sarah Eddinga, born Culpeper County, Yirginia 24 August 1762; died Wilaon County, Tennesaee 3 July 1848. Joaiah Chandler, posaibly the son of Robert Chandler, was born in Henry County, Virginia. He served in tbe American Revolution, entering into service about 1778. He served in the companT comnanded by Captain William Levoir of Wilkes County, North Carolina. He was attached to tbe Regiment commanded b Colonel Cleaveland of the North Carolina Line. He waa a volunteer and was in active service for ten montha. He participated in the Battlea of Ransonts Mill and Kings Mountain. He also sezwed under the command of Captain John Kees against the Indians in the year 1782. Josiah Chandler was married to Sarah Eddings, daughter of ':.I u, fv  /t- r William Eddings and Rebecca Eddinga. Sarah Eddings made application for the pension to which she was eligible under the act pasaed by Congresa 7 July 1838. The application was made on 4 April 1839 before Silas Tarver, an acting Justiae of tbe Peaae for Wilson County, Tennesaee. The pension was granted on 4 March 18l3. It Was for ono half the pay received by Joaiah Cbandler whicb was tWenty dollara per annum. Josiah Chandler and Sarab Eddings moved to Wilaon County, Tenneasee about 1805. He died in 1827. She died in 18l8. Tbey are buried in a cemetorT on the Horace Martin property about two miles aouth of Leeville. 8 There were a number of relatives listed in the Chandler Family records used by Sarah Eddings to support her application for Josiah Chandlers war pension. My great-great grandfather was Luke Randolph Chandler about whom I know only the following: born 25 March 1808 in VA, married Sarah Ann McFarlane ca 1832 in either TN or AL, died 24 May 1880, Jackson Co., AL. His children were Sophia Ann, Francis Marion, Martha Virginia, Henrietta, Robert, Joseph, Matthew, Mary, and Andrew Jackson. On 29 June 1837, a court document in Madison Co., AL, reads: "Luke R. Chandler for love and affection for his wife Sarah and their children, conveys to Henry S. Chandler as trustee, slaves." In that same year a Matthew Chandler had died intestate in Madison Co., AL, and John Chandler of TN was made administrator of the estate. I wonder if the slaves transferred to Henry Chandler by Luke Chandler could have been part of the estate settlement of Matthew Chandler. This would likely make Matthew, Luke, John, and Henry relatives. There is also a William R. Chandler in Madison Co., AL, at that time whose children have names suggesting a kinship. I would appreciate any help with this group of Chandlers - or clues to their VA forebears. Carolyn

CHANDLER: 1931 Unfortunatly I know next to nothing on this fellow only that my parents received a gift of silver butter knives with ivory handles from them when they were married in 1931 which was passed onto me from my parents when I married. I am assuming that he married into either the PROTHERO(UGH) line or the MAILE line on my mother's side. Just in case he didn't he may have married into the BRITNELL line on my father's side.
