In response to a suggestion that I give dates for the Chandler family I am researching, the only date which I have is a birth date for Daniel Bathurst Chandler -- the year 1863. He was married to Grace Richie and they have at least five children: Louise, Ester, Daniel Jr, Flora, Archibald. To the best of my knowledge, they were located in the San Francisco area. I am interested in descendant of any of these people. Thank you for your assistance. Gordon A. Golder
I would like to correspond with descendants of Calvin CHANDLER, b. 1805, Maine, moved to Rock Co., WI by 1850, Fillmore Co., MN by 1860, Jackson Co., MN by 1870. Wife: Elvira, b. 1811-1816 in Maine Children: Sarah Jane, b. 1837 in Maine Horace b. 1839 in Maine Oresta b. 1842 in Maine John b. 1844 in Maine Thomas b. 1851 in Wisconsin Susan Molye <[email protected]>
I am looking for any information on Lewis E. (Ed) CHANDLER. I have him in 1910 in Liberty Twp, Clay Co., Missouri. He is there with his wife Clara NICOLA age 27 and born in Iowa and their daughters (my ggrandmother) Frances age 7 born in Iowa and Eva age 5 born in Missouri. They also had a son Lewis that was born abt 1915 in Missouri. The census indicates that Lewis was born in Iowa and his age was 39. Lewis and Clara were married in May of 1901 in Clay Co., Missouri. I next find Clara in Alva, Woods Co. OK. in 1920. She indicates at that time that she is a widow. Would very much like to correspond with anyone researching my CHANDLERS. Thank You, Mike Cattin [email protected]
In the San Francisco, CA area: I am looking for Daniel Bathurst Chandler, Jr. whose Grandfather and Grandmother were Daniel Thomas Chandler and Sarah Louise Golder. Daniel Jr. had siblings Louise, Ester, Flora, and Archibald. Daniel Bathurst Chandler Sr. was married to Grace Richie. While I am tracing the "Golder" line, I would be grateful for any assistance on any of these Chandler names. Gordon A. Golder
Dear List, I am researching the Chandlers of the south. My only info is a Barbara Ellen Chandler. I do know that either her father or grandfather was a Civil War doctor and he served at Vicksburg. Barbara married several times. She lived in AR for a while but most likely was originally from another state, perhaps Missouri. I also would like to know who is the list owner of this list and how many are subscribed. David Dangerfield
I am searching for the county in SC that John and William CHANDLER left circa 1820 and went to MS. John was born in 1789 and William was born in 1781, both in SC. John's wife was Sarah from SC and William's was Tabitha from SC. Any information on these brothers would be helpful. Fred (Woody) Hendrick [email protected]
Hi, I'm new to this list. My G-grandfather was Jacob CHANDLER who was born in SC in 1793, went as a child to KY and was in Clark County AR before 1820 and to Washington Co. AR by 1829. He married Elizabeth REEDER. He had children Emily, William, Preston, Alfred, Benjamin F., Lurana, Albert, Unity, Lucinda, James M., and Elizabeth Jane. Jacob Chandler had a brother Enoch who was murdered in Washington Co. in 1838, and sisters Elizabeth who married Jacob REEDER, and Sarah who married _____ ANDERSON. Recently I have found another Chandler family in 1850 Williamson Co. TX in which the names Enoch, Preston, and Lucinda occur. The mother is Priscilla, evidently a widow, in the household of an older man named John Marshall. I believe the father of this family was probably a brother of Jacob CHANDLER in Washington Co. AR I have been unable to discover the father of Jacob Chandler. Is anyone else out there working on this line? Janelle Swearingen, Tulsa, OK [email protected]
I have just started trying to see how far back I can get into my father's lineage. I just find this list and some pointers on the internet to get me going, most of what I had been told growing up is heresay, maybe some of you can help me out. Here's what I know: From the back of a family portrait that says was taken July 4 1909 is the following - Charles Chandler 7/28/1841 - 06/20/1927 Samantha Reynolds Chandler 5/7/1858 - 2//1936 Vernon M. Chandler 11/18/1887 Morty G Chandler 06/06/1889 August Swenson Chandler 10/15/1891 Clifford D. Chandler 09/09/1896 August is my great-grandfather and lived in Eagleville Missouri, it's in the very Northern Part of Missouri not far from Lineville, IA. He is buried there. He and his wife had one child, Loren Eldon Chandler. Loren married Berniece Dorothy Czizek and they lived in Des Moines, Iowa. They had two children, Sherman Lawrence and Marcene. Sherm is my father. The story I always heard growing up was that the family was from Scotland. Seven brothers and I sister orginally came to America. I don't know when or if it is even true. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I am sucha novice at this! Thanks Lori Chandler Frank

I received so much help this past week from people on this list I thought I might pay back some of the generosity with some information that I found this past weekend at the library. The following information may be old news to advanced Chandler researchers (and I'd appreciate their evaluation of it), but to almost all who sent me information, I think the following will be new. 1) I may have found "another" son of John Chandler, the immigrant. John Chandler achieved prominence (and apparently influence) in connection with his being named a Burgess in 1645/46 and 1647/48. Then in Patent Book 4, p. 75 (reference Nugent's "Cavaliers & Pioneers," Vol. 1, p. 341), I found: "Mr. John Chandler, 1500 acs. Northumberland Co., 28 Jan. 1656. Upon certain branches of Wicocomico & Chichacone Rivers, on the left hand of a path that goes from Chichacone to Morraticon; 800 acs. bounding N.W. upon sd. path &c; 600 acs. Nly. upon a line which crosses a great branch of Chichacone called Snake Sw., Ely upon land of Francis Clay & 100 acs. adj. these two tracts. Trans. of 30 pers: Jno. Brigges, Anth. Taylor, Ja. Francis, Anne Stannenite, Jane Catesby, Jno. Stubb, Marg. Francklin, Jno. Lea. Marg. Morfrey, Tho. Woodham, Roger Stilwell, Wm. Mace, Nich. Prichard, Nich. Thomas, Roger Moore, Wm. Morrice, Est. Fenton, Henry Stanley, Jno. Tucker, Charles Thompson, Marg. Long, Jere. Cottrell, Nich. Spront (or Sprout), Hen. Copley, Nich. Wazon, Hump. Smith, Zach. Foster, Wm. Robinson, Alice May, Samuell Dobson. Renewed 1663." And then I found: "Mr. Danll. Chandler, sonne & heire of Mr. Jno. Chandler, dec'd, 350 acs. N'umberland Co., S.E. side of Chicka-cone Riv., 6 Jan 1668. Adj. Mr. Cortan (or Corsan), & the bridge Cr. Grandted sd. John 28 Jan 1656, renewed 11 Jan. 1663, & due sd. Dan'l as above." [Patent Bk 6, p. 206] "Mr. Danl. Chandler, sonne & heire of Mr. John Chandler, dec'd, 1500 acs. N'umberland Co., upon branches of Wiccocomoco & Chickacone Rivs., on the left hand of path from Chickacone to Moraticon; 6 Jan 1668. 800 acs. part upon Moraticon Path; 600 acs crossing Snake Sw., a gr. Br. Of Chiccacone & adj. Mr. Fra. Clay; & 100 acs. adj. Granted sd. John 28 Jan 1656, renewed 11 Jan 1663, & now due as above." [Patent Bk 6, p. 207] I think these patents establish that John, the immigrant, had a son named Daniel, doesn't it? I've not had a chance, yet, to investigate what became of Daniel. 2) In checking out the Lunenburg (and surrounding areas) ca. 1750 for the William Chandler who left a will in Halifax dated 1779, I found no less than 5 different William Chandlers. 1) was the William Chandler (wife Judith) who left the will in Halifax in 1779. 2) was his son (with wife Judith, also). 3) was the son of Joseph Chandler (brother of the first William) who I think the records show, was the one who married Delita Cox, daughter of John and Mary Cox of Lunenburg. John Cox's will specifically mentions daughter Delita Chandler, and her two daughters, Rebecca and Keziah. And I found two deed records that name John Chandler, and his wife Delita -- one example: "1 Nov 1757 - William Chandler & Delitia his wife to Robert Eastice Junr., all of Lunenburg Co., 70 pounds, 200 acres, Lunenburg Co., on both sides Snead's Crk., by branch in Tyree Glen's line, adj. Joseph Chandler Junr. SE to Haner Smithson, SW to Jesse Brown, NW to James Williams, NW to Tyree Glen. Rec: 1 Nov 1757 Sig: William Chandler, Delisher Chandler Delishia, wife of Chandler, relinquished her dower right." [Lunenburg Deed Book 5, pp. 73-75] I've tried to correlate locations, dates, witnesses, etc., and have concluded in my own mind that the above William was definitely the son of Joseph. But what really surprised me, because I couldn't find these on any of the GedComs that people sent me, were William 4) and William 5) (and Abraham): 2 June 1748 "Church Wardens of Parish of Cumberland bind out (according to law) Wm Chandler, son of Wm Chandler decd, to Benjamin Dixon, son of Thos. Dixon." [Lunenburg Order Book 2, p. 11] 4 Jul 1750 "Churchwardens of Cumberland Parish bind out Abraham Chandler, son of Wm Chandler to Mathew Talbot Gent." [Lunenburg Order Book 2, p. 298] I would think that the above William, Jr. (the one who was bound out in 1748) might be a candidate for the "lost" William that some folks told me about. Good hunting to you all. Thanks to you folks, I've made excellent progress on my own quest in the last week. Lou Poole, Richardson, TX ([email protected])
Would appreciate help in locating the parents of Clark Chandler, born either in Ohio or England. The 1870 U.S. census for Grants Lick Precinct, Campbell County, KY indicates he was born in Ohio, but the 1880 U.S. census for Cincinnati, Hamilton County, OH indicates he was born in England. Other information sought regards Clark's first wife Louisa Randall and family, and his second wife Belle Kiefel and family. Clark Chandler m. Louisa Randall 13 Nov 1849 in Campbell County, KY. He later married Belle Kiefel (listed as Keyfre) 5 Mar 1875. It is not known whether Clark was widowed or divorced from Louisa. Census records for 1870 (as above) show: Name Age Birthplace Comments Clark 48 Ohio Born ~ 1822 Laura A. 46 Rhode Island Name Louisa Elizabeth 16 Kentucky George 15 Kentucky Marcy 8 Kentucky Name likely Mary, Nancy Randall, Marcy 71 Rhode Island Louisa's mother Mary Jessey, Emma 16 Ohio Unknown relationship Augusta 14 Ohio Unknown relationship The 1880 census records as above show: Name Age Birthplace Status Clark 61 England Head of Household Belle 26 Germany Wife George 24 Kentucky Son Mary 17 Kentucky Daughter Lillie 4 Ohio Daughter George 1 Ohio Son Any information regarding these individuals would be welcomed. Thanks, Robert...of Caldwell, Idaho.

Hello all- It's been a couple weeks since I've received any Chandler posts. I'm beginning to wonder if I've been accidentally bumped off the list. Has it been very slow lately, or am I the only one who hasn't been getting posts ? Here goes........... I'm researching SAMUEL W. CHANDLER (born about 1818-1824 ? in Virginia) who married ELIZABETH ? (who was born about 1822-1826 ? in Virginia). ELIZABETH'S maiden name might possibly have been HUFFMAN. Children of SAMUEL W. CHANDLER AND ELIZABETH ? are: 1. SARAH A. CHANDLER born February 3, 1849 in Rockingham County, Virginia. 2. ELIJAH M. CHANDLER born about 1852 in Rockingham County, Virginia. 3. MARTHA E. CHANDLER born about 1857 in Rockingham County, Virginia. 4. MARGARET C. CHANDLER born about 1860 in Rockingham County, Virginia. 5. MARY E. CHANDLER born about 1864 in Rockingham County, Virginia. I'd love to hear from anyone with information on this line ! Linda
Thomas Chandler was a prominent surgeon who practiced at 58 Paradise St. Rothershithe. Another address listed on a scroll is Sun Street, Bishopsgate. The scroll was presented to him by the Lord Mayor. Other names linked to him are Anne Cooper Chandler abt.1830 - 1900, believed to be his daughter; Walter Rumboll, a doctor, married to Anne Cooper Chandler; Richard Chandler alive 1868. Not related but listed as an apprentice was Professor Thomas Henry Huxley 1825 -1895. If there are any of his relatives around I have some interesting sketches made in 1842. All help will be appreciated and I will be happy to share any information I have. Thanks Margaret Eicens Deale, MD, USA
I'm stuck in my search at: James E. Chandler b.1814, m. Eleanor J. Norwood, probably Alabama. Samuel Nelson Chandler 13 other children My Chandlers seem to be in Alabama, Texas, Oklahoma, Mississippi, and Louisiana, at least back to James E. Chandler. Any help will, of course, be greatly appreciated. I'm also willing to freely share what I have with you, too! Thanks, Keith Chandler Lawrenceville, GA
Does anyone have any information on Edmund Chandler who was born in London, England between 1587 and 1662. Thanks, -- Barb Chandler, TSSF [email protected] http://bounce.to/TheWriteStuff/
