I do not know whether this will add to Sue Sisco's data on John Chandler of Bedford county, TN. whose wife was Sarah White. John and Sarah can be found in TN as early as 1820 (TN census). The wife of Wm. C. Chandler was Martha B. White, sister of Hamilton G. White Jr. of Pittsylvania Co., VA. Her will was filed in Halifax co., VA. in 1831, in Bedford co., TN, in 1832, and in Madison co., AL, in 1834. John Chandler was mentioned in the will. (AL Record #179) Further, John Chandler of TN was named administrator of the estate of Matthew Chandler who died in Madison co. AL in 1837. I've been looking into these families because I believe they may be related to my Luke Randolph Chandler, born in VA in 1808, died in Jackson co., AL, in 1880. I hope this offers some useful clues. Seeking info on Sefrhen or Sephen Chandler. I have a letter written in 1889 that mentions him, the handwriting is hard to make out, one would think it should be Stephen, and it might be but if it is it's misspelled. The letter was written in Pilot Mt., Surry Co. NC. so he probably lived in the area. It also mentions his daughter, Saley. Also Elizabeth Bowen, an uncle Ledford ( I think his last name was Vaughan) who died Nov. 15, 1888, he was 84yrs. and 3mo. the letter was written by James H. Moore of Pilot Mt. Surry Co.
