Hi, all. I hope this information looks familiar to someone. My ggg-grandmother, Flora McDonald Campbell, was born -- according to her death certificate -- in New York around 1836. She married William Henry Chandler in New York City on September 28, 1854. They had 3 daughters; one of them was Susan Chandler, who married Cornelius Huff. Flora's first husband, William Henry Chandler, was born around 1830, in Connecticut according to his death certificate, but we don't know where in CT or who his parents were. He died in NYC on February 21, 1863 of "dropsy." Flora remarried James King. She died July 9, 1888 and, according to her death certificate, her father was born in Scotland and her mother was born in New York. Flora's father was Coll N. Campbell. This is the name on his death certificate. He is at various times also referred to as Nicholas, Colin and Colin Nicholas. He was born about 1806. Flora's mother's name was Amelia Ann [abt. 1810-1848] and family legend has it that she was of Huegenot descent, but we don't know her maiden name. After her death, Coll married again, perhaps as many as 2 more times. Coll died in 1873 and, according to his death certificate, he was born in North Carolina, which conflicts with Flora's report of his birthplace as Scotland. Coll had at least 2 sisters. The information we know about them is listed below. *Margaret Euphemia Campbell [abt. 1799 - 1858] m. Donald Campbell [? - bef. 1855]... in Margaret's will, he is said to have been in the British army. *Donald McAlpin Campbell [abt. 1820 - 1855] *[Coll] Nicholas Campbell [abt. 1806 - 1873] m. *Amelia Ann [nee unknown] [abt. 1810 - 1848] Rosetta Campbell [? - bef. 1855] *Arabella F. Campbell [? - bef. 1855] m. *Christopher Livings [abt. 1806 - 1866] Christopher Livings [abt. 10/18/1829 - ?] *Effie {Euphemia?} C. Livings [abt. 10/13/1831 - 1856] *Campbell C. Livings [abt. 1834 - 1872] *Nicholas C. Livings [4/6/1836? - 1863] *Anna Butterworth Livings [4/6/1836 - ?] Duncan Campbell Livings [abt. 10/18/1838 - ?] Everyone marked with a * is buried in the family plot at Cypress Hills Cemetery in Queens, NY. Thanks and good hunting! Sue Huff
Thanks So much, I really appreciate the help that everyone has given me with the DAR lookup. I probably should have given more info, my William Dangerfield was a Col. He wasnt the Col. William that commanded the 7th VR, however. I am certain he was born in 1759 and died in SC 1826. I really need to find someting out about him. He also could have been listed with SC vets. of the Revolutionary. Again, thanks so much for the help, I am much obliged to all of you for your assistance, I wont soon forget your kindness.
