Hi, I am a descendant, of William Chandler and Annis Agnes Bayford.I have the book of Chandler, genealogy, 2 edition. The earliest Chandler relative, I have is Thomas Chandler, born 1468, in Bishop Stortford England, he died Jan. 31, 1551. Also thru the Chandler line I am related to President Rutherford Hayes and Senator Zeceriah Chandler of Michigan. I would like to further this line, and also meet someone with connecting lines. My grandmother was a Chandler. In the town I live in, there is Chandler Street. I hope I have some cousins out there. Yours truly, scott mckay Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

I have just discovered this list. My maiden name was Chandler and I have traced my ancestry back to a John Worrell Chandler who was a shoemaker. He was born in Margate ca 1790 but lived most of his adult life in Dover. His wife's name was Susannah Elizabeth and they had 11 children between 1813 and 1836, but I have been unable to find his baptism or his marrriage. I suspect Susannah's maiden name was Devonshire but can't prove this. I would also love to find out where the Worrell came from, as there were JohnWorrell Chandlers in three generations Sue Mackay [email protected] Glamorgan Family History Society http://members.aol.com/gfhsoc

I know all kinds of stuff about my grandfather and his family. His full name was Earl Baxter Chandler. He was born in Alsea, OR. His father was born in TX and began his family there, then moved to OR and continued his family, and finally moved to CA and had some more children. Earl's father also came from a large family and I do have quite a bit of info on them but right off the top of my head I'm not sure if any of them came to WA state or not. I could double check and get back to you. Do you know who Joseph B. Chandler's parents were? >> Hi ! Cheri; I am presuming that Orondo is in Washington State, is that right ? I was hoping that your Earl Baxter, might have been Earl Buster, which is the middle name of my father. I seem to be grasping at straws when it comes to finding any information on a Chandler family that I know nothing about. My father Joe, b. 09/09/1899 Spokane, WA. Said he left home at the age of eight years, so he didn't remember much about his family. His mother died abt. 1901/02 when he was two or three. He doesn't remember any brothers or sisters, although he had an Aunt & Uncle, and he wasn't sure what side of the family they were on. It could have been a Chandler Uncle or a Chandler Aunt which would have become a different surname. I tend to go along with the Aunt because he said he lived with her for a while and that would explain why I cannot find him listed in 1900/1910 in a Chandler family. My father was apparently not sure what name or what state his father was from. On his Social Security application he stated his father's name was John J. Chandler. On his marriage application he stated his father's name was A. J. Chandler from Iowa. The 1920 Pacific County census states his father was born in Indiana, but it also says Joseph was born in Illinois and mother was born in Iowa. This Joseph is listed as being born in 1895 instead of 1899, so I think well maybe this is not my father after all. But then again I say, just how many Joseph B, Chandler's can there be in the state of Washington ? There was a Joe Chandler in Spokane Co., but he was born in 1904 and I have verified him as being dead before my father. Since most of my research has failed to find my father's family think the only source left is to find a Chandler family in Washington that has a diary or family bible that may mention my dad. Thanks for your time; Sincerely; Dave Chandler [email protected]

Jim; Well, I suppose that one county is as good as another, when you don't know exactly where you are looking. My father said he was born in Spokane, but the only listing I have found so far was in Pacific Co. after he was over 20 years of age. He also said his father was John J. Chandler, but come to find out on my father's marriage application, it states his father's name was A. J. Chandler b. Iowa. My father was born about 1899, so A.J. would have be b. abt. 1879 or before.

For my 1st query on this list, I would like to find out if anyone has any information on CHANDLERs from London, England. Charlotte was born on May 31, 1833 in London. Her family left for the U.S. in 1843. On July 4, 1851, she married Franz Lehmann in Morristown, New Jersey. In 1855 they left for West Branch, Iowa where they settled and raised a large family. I have a lot of detail on their family but would like to get info on her parents, siblings, etc. Will be happy to trade info. Charlotte passed away on November 11, 1920 in Iowa City, Iowa.
