The only record of their children that I've seen is an LDS Ancestral File record (Mornon online Family Search listing) that lists 4 children (not all named), including one named James, born 9 Nov 1801, in Augusta, ME, who died the next day. This matches the birth data for your James Chamberlain. I'd appreciate knowing your source for the information that your James was born 9 Nov 1801 in Augusta, Kennebec Co., ME, and that he was the son of these parents, and that he is the same James who married Mary Peterson as you listed it, so I can attempt to clear up this inconsistency.
