This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/AUI.2ACIB/211.1.1.1.2 Message Board Post: You are not the first person, Sandie, to attempt to trace this Rebecca Chamberlin, b. 1803, Jefferson Twp., Morris Co., NJ. Her ancestry is unknown. She is probably related somehow to Benjamin Chamberlain and Martha "Patty" Byram, of Sparta, Sussex Co., NJ, the progenitors of a whole line of descendants there in that area of New Jersey, whose descendants, in the Chamberlain Family Association, hold an annual Reunion, and who are very active in the World Chamberlain Genealogical Society. So you can direct your query to them through the WCGS, if you wish, and see whether these persons can help you any. This Benjamin Chamberlain has been the subject of extensive research through the years, with a book written by A. J. Fretz about him and his descendants, as perhaps you are aware. He had 13 children, including 9 sons, all of whom have been traced except for one who probably died young. A couple of these sons were married before 1803, so could possibly be a parent of your Rebecca. But none of them has a known daughter listed whose name is Rebecca, except for one, and she was born 5 May 1816 and died young. It is possible that Benjamin's brother John was the father or grandfather of Rebecca, but this is a long shot - John's descendants have never been traced. John was living in Hardiston, Sussex Co., NJ in 1793, but it is believed he moved to William Co., VA in 1798 and later to Caswell Co., NC, so, you see, this is not a very good possibility.
