Wondering if anyone has any information on an Erastus Chamberlin, born 1774 in VT. He was married to Dorcas Follett, born 1775 in VT, on 9-12-1802. They had at least 4 children: Lucy, Martha, Eliza, and Erastus Jr. I believe they were all from the Thetford/Coventry, VT area. Thanks for any info. J Roberts bjroberts@attbi.com

Chamberlin. Apparently sometime in 1876, Will Chamberlin's parents moved the family from Manhattan, Kansas to the Sierra Nevada Mountains of western California. They lived for a time in Alameda, then Truckee, then Grass Valley, and finally Oakland. By 1880, Will Chamberlin had moved down the coast to Cambria, California where he took employment teaching school. His mother was Mary Parker Chamberlin and he had brothers named Vincent and Nathan.

I am looking for four brothers who were born in Merrimack, NH circa 1790's. They are John, Josiah, Thomas and Leonard. One researcher says they are the children of John Chamberlin and Hannah Center. (no proof found) or the grandchildren of John Chamberlin and Hannah Farwell (no proof). The brothers went to Hull, Quebec, Canada circa 1820, to work for Philemon Wright. John married Mary Bloss and stayed and farmed in Hull. He drowned in the Gatineau River in 1837. They had five children: John Charles, Mary (Evans), Julia (Morehouse), Hannah (Brooks) and Sophia (Church). Josiah married Sophia Frost. They also stayed and farmed in Hull and had several children. Thomas moved to Dayton, Ohio sometime after 1825 and married Catherine _ . According to the 1850 & 1860 census he was a plaster. He died in Dayton on Aug. 2, 1868. Leonard moved to Massachusetts after 1825. Please contact me if you think you can help.

Surnames: Chamberlin, Powers Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/AUI.2ACIB/168 Message Board Post: I recently purchased a wonderful old "Cabinet Portrait" studio photograph of "Tom Powers" at an antique shop in St. Charles, IL. Under his name is the statement: "Married to Abbie Chamberlin". I enjoy rescuing lovely old pictures like these from antique shops and locating descendants/family members so that I can re-unite the pictures, for only my costs, with people who will treasure them. It is my estimate that the photo of Tom Powers was taken in about the 1890 era. The photo was taken by the Leisenring's Studio in Mt. Pleasant, IA, which is in Henry Co. It is mounted on heavy cardboard, as was typical during that time period, is in very good condition and is an original (not a copy). . Tom is a handsome man of about age 30+or-, and is wearing a suit with a vest, a watch chain, and is standing posed next to an ornate gate of some type in the photographer's studio. He has dark hair and a wide mustache. If you have Powers and or Chamberlin ancestors in your family from the Henry Co., IA area, and in this time frame, please Email me at margerice@prodigy.net - and I will get back to you shortly.

Yes, I am very interested in the early Chamberlins. I have most of my info on my computer (Mac) and can accept info in Gedcom format if that is possible for you. If you have it only on paper, I will be happy to pay for it's copying and mailing. I can send you my info on the large clan of Daniel's descendants, again in gedcom or whatever format you would like. I am a retired physicist and genealogy and wine making have taken the place of experimental physics. I grew in the Boston/ Cambridge area, moving to NC when I was 12, and to CA when I finished college. My wife (April Blackburn Hill ) and I have 4 children and 6 grandchildren, so the clan grows. Hope to hear from you. Bob Hill <rhill1666@eartlink.net>
