Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/AUI.2ACIB/223.1.1.2.2 Message Board Post: Thank you for posting this detailed information. It matches well with what I have listed here for Chamberlin Cemetery, from the same Internet source, but readers should be aware that the data for Minerva, which says she died 5 Jan 1817, age 21 y 3 m 21 d, cannot be correct. Cemetery data published in the Chamberlain Key, Vol. IX, No. 2, p. 48, instead list Minerva's death, 5 Jan 1817, age 2 years, 3 months and 21 days. This would yield a calculated birth date of about 15 Sep 1814, which is plausible considering that she was the first child born to parents who were married, 29 March 1814, there in Scioto Co., OH. Also, at least one genealogy has listed her birth date as 5 Jan 1814, which isn't correct, either. I have corrected my records here, accordingly.

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/AUI.2ACIB/237.1 Message Board Post: Marie/Maria(7) Chamberlin, b. c1820, prob. Porter Twp., Scioto Co., OH, d. 1847, is believed (definitely unproven) by some researchers to be one of eleven children of Anson(6) Chamberlin [Oliver(5), Benjamin(4), Joseph(3), William(2), Henry(1), b. 27 Feb 1782, Weathersfield, Windsor Co., VT, d. 27 Dec 1862, Scioto Co., OH, and his wife Mary Montgomery, b. 6 Jan, 1793, PA, d. 6 Jul 1852, Scioto Co., OH, m. 29 Mar 1814, Scito Co., OH. Marie/Maria married, 4 Jan 1838, Scioto Co., OH, Osborn White, b. 7 Jan 1820, d. 1845 or 1847, with four children listed for them. Osborn White was the son of Daniel White (who married Sarah Comfort), whose sister Mary White, married Anson Chamberlin's nephew, Wyatt(7) Chamberlin. This Wyatt Chamberlin, b. 26 Jun 1790, Pomfret, Windsor Co., VT, is the son of Wyatt(6) Chamberlin, b. 26 Dec 1763, East Windsor, Hartford Co., CT, who married Dolly (-?-), and who is the eldest brother of Anson Chamberlin, with about 19 years separating the ages of ! these two brothers. As might be expected, some persons have confused these two Wyatts, so beware of this. Wyatt(7) is the person you listed in your posting. He married Mary "Polly" White, 15 Oct 1813, Scioto Co., OH, and died 16 Feb 1856 there, with his wife dying 4 days later. They are buried in the private Chamberlin Cemetery in Porter Twp.; I have a list of Chamberlin burials there, which includes "Mary White w/o Wyatt d Feb 20, 1856 age 65y 1m 20d", and a gravestone for Wyatt with the top missing: "-, Died February 16, 1856, aged 65 years, 8 months, - days." It has not gone unnoticed by me that this couple is said to have had a daughter named Mary, b. c1824, about whom nothing is known - she could be the same Mary who married Osborn White, I suppose, though, if so, she would have been rather young at the time (assuming that her estimated birth date of c1824 has any validity). What makes things much more confusing, indeed, is that the Chamberlain genealogist, David Conrad Chamberlin, Sr., in his formal Family Group Record for Anson Chamberlin, lists a different Mary (instead of Marie/Maria who married Osborn White), as a daughter in this family. This Mary Chamberlin is listed at home with her parents in the 1850 Census, age 29. DCC says she was married (don't know when. but sometime well before her father's death in 1862, and other persons dispute that she was married) and had a daughter Kate (who married J. W. Burke). According to Anson's 26 Feb 1862 Will, not settled until 2 Jan 1870, he named his daughter Mary Chamberlain and her daughter Kate, and he leaves his home to them (when Anson's estate was settled Mary sold the home to her sister, Mahala, wife of Abel White). So, this Mary and Marie/Maria cannot be the same persons, since Marie/Maria died in 1847. All of this confusion needs to be sorted out sometime, if possible. I have census and other detailed information here for this family, together with my research notes from my correspondence with several other persons actively researching this family. Please contact me via Email <jbparker@provide.net> if you wish to discuss this information in greater detail.

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/AUI.2ACIB/236.1 Message Board Post: Thanks for posting this information! Not long ago, Chamberlain researchers were looking for evidence of this particular land transfer, hoping to pinpoint the geographical location of this parcel. Rather recently I saw it listed in the Grantee Index for land records from the Harrison Co., WV Courthouse, mailed to me by researcher Cathy Bell, which states, "John Chamberlin, from John Wolf, grantor, Vol. 1, p. 48, Jan. 21, 1788, 730 acres, Elk Creek." 17 other land records appear in this Harrison Co. index for this family, between 1815 and 1840, in places called Booths Creek, Coon Run, Bingamon Creek, and Hog Lick Run. Elks Creek runs through the city of Clarksburg, but Bingaman Creek and Coons Run are many miles further north, near the Marion and Harrison county border. I can't actually pinpoint the site of this 730 acres from the information I have here, but this could probably be accomplished with close examination of these deeds, probate records, etc. This is John(7) Chamberlain, b. c1761, prob. Kingwood Twp., Hunterdon Co., NY, d. before 23 Aug 1828, Harrison Co., VA (later WV), whose wife is unknown, with four known children: James, John, Nancy/Ann and Josiah, many of whose descendants have been traced in OH, IL, and elsewhere. This is part of a big family which has been extensively researched by several persons, with several lineages, scholarly articles, etc., appearing mostly in the publication, the Chamberlain Chain. I maintain a detailed lineage with research notes here which contain all of this information. John(7) is identified as #LN980 in the lineages (Family Group Records) of the Chamberlain genealogist, David Conrad Chamberlin, Sr. The ancestral line of descent is believed to be: John(6), Lewis(5), John(4), Henry(3), John(2), Henry(1) Chamberlin, the eldest of the five original Chamberlain immigrant ancestors in New England in the early 1600s. Persons who are researching this family are invited to! contact me via Email for additional information.

Joseph(7) Chamberlin [John(6), Lewis(5), John(4), Henry(3), John(2), Henry(1)], was born 13 Jan 1776, prob. Kingwood Twp., Hunterdon Co., PA, d. 29 Aug 1863, Shamokin Twp., Hunterdon Co., NJ, married Mary Young, 29 Oct 1797. She was born 20 Sep 1780, NJ, perhaps Hunterdon Co., parents unknown, d. 10 Dec 1861, prob. Shamokin Twp.; 12 children listed, 6 of whom have actual birth dates recorded. The one you mentioned, Mary, who m. Mahlon Hull, was born c1807, and they died sometime after 1863, when she received an equal share of the division of her father's estate, and was living in Wisconsin. I have no other informtion about them. According to the Chamberlain Chain, Vol. 24, p. 22, the name of her husband was Rese Wisler, but this has not been confirmed. Joseph & Mary are buried in the Upper Valley M. E. Church cemetery, Northumberland Co., PA. My research notes for Joseph Chamberlin, who is identified as LN986, in the professionally prepared Family Group Records of the genealogist, David Conrad Chamberlin, Sr., contain reference to his Will, which names his heirs and which has been reprinted a couple of places in recent years. Also, a biographical sketch, in J. L. Floyd's History of Northumberland Co., pp. 123-148 (available online) also names his children, with paragraphs about his son Cabel and Cabel's son Lewis; his son Isaac and Isaac's son Silas; and his son Lemuel and Lemuel's son Joseph H. I have collected census data for this family, data for about 120 Chamberlin descendants of Joseph, as well as a list of those contact persons researching this family who have posted in GenForum and elsewhere, that you may wish to make contact with to share information. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/AUI.2ACIB/234.1.1 Message Board Post: I forgot to mention that some Chamberlain/lin researchers believe there is somehow a connection with the family of Capt. Gad Chamberlin, an early settler who lived in the area of Romeo, Macomb Co., MI (buried there), and who also came from this same general area of New York State (see 1820 Census in Lima, Ontario Co., NY). I am closely related to this family (through both my Chamberlin and my Parker-Baldwin lines), so I have a particular interest in continuing to trace its descendants, more distant cousins, etc., though its ancestry is well known and documented. Just yesterday, I was corresponding with someone who is helping me trace the descendants of several of Gad's children who went to Louisiana. So, this is by way of letting you and other researchers know that I'm also working intensively on this other family. I see no relationship, as yet, with Melancton and Beekman Chamberlin. I probably should have said, in my prior posting, with regard to early Ontario Co., NY Chamberlain/lins, that Joshua, Pierce, Isaac and David are descendants of William(1) Chamberlain, whereas Hines/Hinds, Loomis (in Livonia, Ontario Co., NY in 1810 & 1820), Gad (in Lima in 1820), etc., are descendants of Henry(1) Chamberlin. Henry(1) and William(1) are known to be completely unrelated, both by historical records, and through DNA testing of descendants. I should also have mentioned that I would like to discuss DNA testing with known descendants of Beekman and Melancton Chamberlin.

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/AUI.2ACIB/234.1 Message Board Post: My Chamberlain/lin research files contain a very detailed collection of information, compiled as a result of my contacts with several researchers (including a mention of yourself as a source for one of them, I see), in recent years, pertaining to a, so-far futile, effort to trace these brothers, Beekman and Melancton W. Chamberlin. Please refer to several postings in GenForum Chamberlin and Chamberlain sites by me and other persons (I have a list of all these postings here, if you need it). Beekman was born 20 Jun 1793, NY, and Melancton (or Malancton) W. was born 1 Jul 1796, prob. NY. They married sisters, Mary & Melinda Adams, daughters of Alda(n) and Mary Adams of VT, per Melinda's death certificate, who were married 18 Jan 1785, West Greenwich, Kent Co., RI. Mary was born in 1785 and Melinda in 1799, both in Mt. Holly, Rutland Co., Vermont, which is close to Windsor Co., VT I mention this, in particular, because my research notes don't mention whether anyone has attempted to find some connection between the Adams and Chamberlin families before the 1814-1815 period of time when they married, presumably in Ontario Co., NY. My own analysis has centered on trying to determine which of the Chamberlain/lin families in Ontario Co., NY in the 1800-1820 Census, might be connected, if any - which one of them is the most likely fit with known data for these two brothers. I've also been working to trace the ancestries and descendants of each of these same families. "Peckman" and "Malandon" were listed in 1820 in Richmond, and an Isaac Chamberlain lives not far away. Please note that Richmond was named Honeoye between 6 Apr 1808 & 11 Apr 1815, and Pittstown between 1796 and 1808. This Isaac and his brother Pierce, believed to be sons of the Joshua listed in 1800 [whose ancestry has now been very tentatively traced], are both listed in 1810 in Honeyoye, and "Peirie" is listed in 1800 in Pittstown, where he is recorded as an original settler there in 1795. There are a few other records of Joshua and Isaac in "Pittstown", which are available. Isaac and Pierce cannot yet be totally excluded, tho! ugh census data do not suggest a good match with Beekman and Melancton, and their ages and marriage dates don't match well, either. Living in Ontario, Ontario Co., NY, in 1810 & 1820, is David Chamberlain, who is a good possibility, and whose ancestry has been traced. In 1800, Joshua and his presumed son Ezekiel, live in Northampton (later named Gates in Monroe Co.), and they are the subject of very intensive research at this time (Ezekiel believed by me to likely be the person who was listed in Detroit, Wayne Co., MI in 1820, whose decendants are being traced there). The Ezekiel in Detroit is known to have had several children born before and after 1800. Hines/Hinds, also listed in Northampton in 1800, has also been traced, but he wasn't married until 1798, with several children recorded in Le Roy, Genesee Co., NY from 1801 on. So, that is a very condensed summary of the analysis available at present. A comparison of Beekman and Melancton's childrens' given names with those in the lines I've listed above, also suggests certain possibilities. I suggest more research in land, probate, and other available records in Ontario Co., NY. Please contact me via Email <jbparker@provide.net>, if you wish, to discuss this information in greater detail.
