Chamberlain, p. 269: 00011001-00011001 (age 50-60), 1 person employed in Agriculture I haven't been able to identify this Moses M.N. Chamberlain, but he might be a brother of Joseph and Simeon, also listed p. 146 in 1830, and Simeon is listed p. 175 in 1820: 400011-0001 (age 26-45). An Asa Chamberlin is the only family listed there in Enosburgh in 1810. More effort would be required to trace this family. Please contact me via Email if you wish to discuss this information in greater detail.

OH I've not been able to trace this Nicholas Ch'n's ancestry in PA, and it is unknown just when he came to Gallia Co., OH. There is no one else listed nearby him in 1840. One could search OH & PA 1830 census records for this name (I haven't taken the time to do this), but it is unlikely he would have been listed as head of household at that time since he was only 18 years of age, but this is worth a try. Early Gallia & Jackson counties (or other nearby places), OH land, probate and other records might reveal something more. Please contact me via Email if you have anything else you wish to share about this family. I can also perhaps put you in touch with other persons who have researched this family.

They take a bit of time to get back but can be quite informative, especially since you already have the unit number. You can order the service record online through their website now. I've also a William H. Chamberlain in my family and am looking into ordering his records. My William H. Chamberlain was born about 1838 in Pennsylnia, a son of John Chamberlain. John Chamberlain moved out to Erie County, Ohio around 1840. My John Chamberlain and his brother Thomas, also an Erie County resident, are originally born in England circa 1810-1815. Good luck with your search!

    1. Ezra Chamberlin--Civil War ID Tag
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Chamberlin Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/AUI.2ACIB/243 Message Board Post: For those of you researching Ezra Chamberlin---He was a Union soldier in Company K, 7th Reg. Connecticut and entered service September 6, 1861. His ID tag was found in the Confederate H. L. Hunley -- the first submarine in history to sink an enemy warship (the U.S.S. Housatonic). The article and picture of the ID tag are in the National Geographic, July 2002 on page 97. A great find for any descendant of Ezra Chamberlin. The article supposes that the ID tag was kep by a confederate crewman as a trophy of battle...not that Ezra Chamberlin was on board the submarine.

    1. CHAMBERLIN Family Photograph
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Arthur CHAMBERLIN which was taken at the Copelin Studio in Chicago, IL. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880's with Arthur likely in his 30's at the time. I'm hoping to locate someone from this CHAMBERLIN Family so that this wonderful old photograph can be returned to its rightful place with family. If you are a member of this family, or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley
