Juliet, TN [Email: Davidandpam@home.com}, which appears to be you, published queries in the Chamberlain Chain, Vol. 24, p. 22, and Vol. 25, p. 18 [lineage in Chamberlain Chain Branch 244], and in the WCGS newsletter, the Chamberlain Key, Vol. III, No. 2 and Vol. VI, No. 2 in 2001. My records indicate you were an early member of the World Chamberlain Genealogical Society and we corresponded by Email in Feb. 1998. The information I've collected here for this family states that William Hayes Chamberlin moved to the West Coast and fought in the Spanish American War, settled in Holbrook, AZ, where he served in the State Legislature. William was in the Mercantile business in Arizona according to one of David's uncles. My own checking, just now, reveals the following two census entries: - 1920 Census, Haslington? Ave., Holbrook Precinct, Holbrook Town, Navajo Co., AZ, p. ?, #96/108, 8 Jan 1920, William H. Chamberlin, head, age 49, manager - wholesale house, TN/PA/TN; Lela, wife, age 35, UT/UT/UT; Lela, daughter, age 13, NM/TN/UT; Lillian, daughter, age 11, NM/TN/UT; Mamie, daughter, age 8, NM/TN/UT; also at #97/108, Lucy W? ----, sister, single, age 44, bookkeeper - wholesale house, TN/PA/TN - 1930 Census, #206 West Grove, Prescott Justice Precinct, Prescott City, North-West Ward, Institution: Mercy Hospital Incorporated, Yavapai Co., Arizona, p. 144B, #280/280, 17 Apr 1930, William H. Chamberlin, head, age 60, married age 32, rents, $58, wholesale grocer - groceries, TN/PA/TN; Lilla I., wife, age 45, married age 17, UT/UT/UT; Lillian, daughter, divorced, age 21, married age 17, stenographer - office, NM/TN/UT Further, I see that you now call his father by the name of Col. William Hayes Chamberlin, but his father was instead named Col. James Chamberlin (who married Adelaide Stokes Nichol), an attorney [Harvard graduate] from Pennsylvania with a distinguished military service record during the Civil War. James moved to Nashville in the autumn of 1863, and was appointed by Gov. Curtin as Military Agent of Pennsylvania for the southwest, looking after the welfare of the Pennsylvania soldiers in that department until the close of the war. He formed a law partnership with D. F. Wilkin, Esq., of Nashville, TN. Data from the family group sheet for this family prepared by the late Chamberlain genealogist, David Conrad Chamberlin, Sr., wherein James is identified as #LN1617 and his son William Hayes as #LN1717, for your reference. William Hayes Chamberlin was the 2nd of 10 children born in this family in Nashville, TN, between 1868 and 1882. The ancestral line of descent is listed as: William Hayes(9), Col. James(8), John(7), William(6), Lewis(5), John(4), Henry(3), John(2), Henry(1). Please contact me via Email if you wish to discuss this information in greater detail.

Hi all, I am trying to identify the parents and siblings of Abiel CHAMBERLIN of Hopkinton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. He sold land to my ancestor Ebenezer LAWRENCE in 1760, the land being 100 acres in Roxbury Canada, now Warwick, Massachusetts. I suspect some type of relationship between the LAWRENCEs and the CHAMBERLIN's, but don't have anything but a vague hunch at this time. Who were the parents of Abiel/Abel CHAMBERLIN/CHAMBERLINE/CHAMBERLAIN etc? Who were his siblings. Thanks, Tom in Chapel Hill

It is my understanding that Agnes F. O'Day Chamberlain, b. 3 Nov 1891, and her brother Anthony O'Day Chamberlain, b. Oct 1888, are the children of Anna B. Cloonan by her first marriage to Patrick O'Day, and these children took the surname of Chamberlain from Anna's second husband, Edgar S. "Eddie" Chamberlain, whom she married 31 Oct 1899, Chicago, IL, and by whom Anna had a son named Theodore E. Chamberlain, b. 1902. Edgar Chamberlain was born Nov 1861, PA (prob. Summerhill Twp., Crawford Co.), d. after 1930, prob. Tulsa, OK, the 3rd of 5 known children of Theodore Chamberlain, b. about 2 Jan 1826, NY, d. 12 Oct, 1902, prob. Van Buren Co., MI, whose wife was Nancy (-?-), b. c1837, NY, d. after 1880, prob. Van Buren Co., MI. This Theodore is about the 6th of at least 15 children of Simeon Chamberlain, b. abt. 1 Apr 1793, NY or NJ (as calculated from his gravestone inscription)! , d. 6 Jun 1866, prob. Crawford Co., PA, and his wife Olive Martha Van Buren, b. abt. 31 Mar 1801, NY, d. 17 Oct 1881, Lawton Twp., Van Buren Co., MI, married c1817, prob. NY. These families have been traced in census data from 1930 back to 1820, with input from various other sources including other researchers. Simeon Chamberlain is first listed in the 1820 census in Caledonia, Genesee Co., NY, p. 099: 2001-001 (age 16-26), a young farmer. His origins are unknown at present, but careful analysis of 1800-1810 census data indicate he could possibly be a son or nephew of Hines/Hinds(6) Chamberlain, one of the very earliest settlers in Northampton, Ontario Co., NY, in 1800-01 (this part of Ontario Co. later located in Caledonia, Genesee Co., NY), who lived in Caledonia in 1810, and whose ancestral line of descent is known to be Henry(5), Henry(4), Henry(3), Henry(2), Henry(1) Chamberlin.
