Sue GREAT NEWS! One thing that comes to my heart is for Choctaw people to remember you are Choctaw not any of the other tribes that have "fancier" regalia. Until you can get your traditional Choctaw dress, as long as you wear a shawl you can go out on intertribal dancing. To go on grand entry etc. you need your tribal regalia. But to wear another tribes clothes you would have to get permission from an elder of that tribe and have them adopt you into thier tribe. Hey your not tooo far from California, we have people who come to our annual gathering from Oregon and Wash. Visit our web for more information www.oklachahta.org our send us your address and/or email and we will put you on mailing list. Theresa Harrison, Liaison Okla Chahta Clan of CA., Inc. I kept quiet because I have respect for the dear ones that have been rejected, for lack of a card (CDIB). Thankfully I have just received one and I'm so excited! I have always wanted to be a part of my grandmothers people but didn't have the help I needed. > My name is Susan Kenner (Sue). Maiden name Henry, mothers maiden name Pollard, grand mothers maiden name Vail, grate grandmothers maiden name Folsom. I have more information to share if any one would like it. I live in Oregon and am looking forward to the Spirit Mountain Pow wow, but this time I will wear the glass beaded necklace that my mothers grandmother made her. I don't have any dress to wear. can someone tell me what is acceptable so as not to offend anyone. Thanks so much, Oh I don't see my mail every day so please be patient.
