    2. I think personaly i just take pride in being Choctaw, I don't mind if someone calls me Indian, Native American, or American Indian, I have had friends refer to me as Indian, and any, and everytime...I just take pride in just the thought of being assotiated with my ancestors, no matter what the reference is. So, I would fall under the catigory as having no prefernce as to what I am called, its what it means to me inside that counts to me. I take pride in what my ancestors mean to me, not to someone else. Cause to someone else it could mean something completly different. I do understand that being called an Indian in one way or another can be ofencive, and don't get me wrong, in some cases I would take it the wrong way also. a Pusley...

    3. All of my life, I had simply used Indian. Yes, I know there are people from India and that people first coming here called the native people here Indians because they were looking for a route to India. It's just in the last few years that things have gotten so tangled up. Choctaw or any other tribal name is the only way to refer to someone if you know, but I just don't want to feel bad and what's more, don't want to make anyone else feel bad if I say the wrong thing. I think I will free my mind of stumbling blocks, remember my love for my grandmother's people and for whatever bit of her that is in me and be at peace. fay ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, August 21, 2000 10:07 PM Subject: Re: [CHAHTA] testing > I think personaly i just take pride in being Choctaw, > I don't mind if someone calls me Indian, Native American, or American > Indian, I have had friends refer to me as Indian, and any, and everytime...I > just take pride in just the thought of being assotiated with my ancestors, no > matter what the reference is. > So, I would fall under the catigory as having no prefernce as to what I am > called, its what it means to me inside that counts to me.
