    3. Although you are right Fay, there is no "exact" answer most of the Choctaws I know do not like to be called "Native American". Now this may only be in the part of Oklahoma where I live and other Choctaws or other tribes may be fine with it. Out of respect for the Choctaws I know, I use "Choctaw" or "American Indian" and never "Native American". Now, this is only my choice and everyone is of course free to make there own. Is it ever insulting to be called "Native American"? I realize that "Native American" has been used in more recent times in an effort to be more considerate of others and to not be demeaning and to show respect. You can get in a lot of trouble though, if you don't know what is "respect" to the person you are talking to. > Fay > > > ==== CHAHTA Mailing List ==== > To subscribe to CHOCTAW-SOUTHEAST-L: > Send msg. to [email protected] > Put "one" word in "body" of message:...
