    3. When I heard it, it was used regionally in Canada. My parents were doing mission work up on Six Nations at the time. Even when they moved into the Yukon Territory of Canada, the Native people were called "First Nations." I just always liked it. :-) Ruthie ----Original Message Follows---- From: faynshep <[email protected]> Reply-To: [email protected] To: [email protected] Subject: [CHAHTA] First Nation?? Date: Mon, 21 Aug 2000 21:14:54 -0500 I have friends at the Pine Ridge rez and I have noticed that a lot of times there is a remark of "First Nation" or "First People". In some NA languages when translated they are referring to themselves as "human beings". Do you think there is different meanings for different tribes or maybe different locations or territories? fay ==== CHAHTA Mailing List ==== Home Page: http://freepages.cultures.rootsweb.com/~choctaw/index.htm ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com
