The Leni Lenape people who would become many tribes, one of which was Cherokee, trace their lineages back to the people who came across this supposed land bridge. The "Wallum Olum" is a fascinating account of this and I would reccomend it to anyone interested in the origins of Native Peoples. The Wallum Olum consisted of "wooden tablets" with entries showing the trip across the Beiring Straight and ends with an entry that reads something like, "White people in Great Ships? Who are they?"... the location of that entry for the people was in Delaware, and you guessed it, the Delaware trace themselves back to "the grandfathers...aka The Leni Lenape." According to history, after this last entry was made, the ships were found to be that of a Swedish expedition to the Americas and that particular band was virtually wiped out due to disease.
