Neve heard of using pure vanilla extract but then I have never had a prob with ANY kind of insect bite...I have always been fond of eating garlic and have been told that insects are also repelled by this. Something about the garlic being in a persons sweat or something along those lines *S*. ONe tablespoon is applie cider vinegar a day is supposed to have the same effect.
