    3. One thing that I would like to do is THANK everybody on this List. This is the MOST use I have ever gotten from a dictionary!!! Indian = a member of any of the aboriginal peoples of N. America, S. America, or the West Indies; originally so named from the beleif, held by early explorers, that these regions were part of Asia. 1. Re: [CHAHTA] Lots of good information and stories about Choctaw

    3. I just wanted to tell ya'll that I joined the Pittsburgh Co. Genealogical and Historical Society (OK) and have found a great deal of information about the Choctaw in their quarterly publishings. I received the first one, then on a trip there, I purchased the 4 editions from last year. They have interviews done in the 1930's mostly, but also other years of white and Indian that give real-life information about Choctaws. It has given me several clues about searching for my family who resided there in the late 1800s on. The address for the society is 113 East Carl Albert Parkway, McAlester, OK 74501 (918) 426-0388. The people who work there as volunteers are fabulous and they will do free lookups. They also have a website although I don't recall the addy - I get there by going to www.usgenweb.com, then OK or IT and Pittsburg Co., then there is a link on the Pittsburg Co home page to the Gen. and His. Society. I hope this isn't too long for a post, but I wanted to let ya'll know that this is a great source of information. The emblem they use on the cover of the quarterly publication, the Tobusky News is the Choctaw Emblem and each edition has an explanation of the meaning of the symbols within. OK, my time's up, let me pass to the next person! Take care and go safely! Tsana _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
