    3. I just wanted to thank everyone again for your prayers and blessings. I'm a much happier person right now, because of them. Last Sunday night was looking pretty grim waiting for Monday and Tuesday to come and go. My daughter was sprung today! She went to her mother-in-laws for tonight where the kids are. I'm picking her up in the morning, then it's on to her house for a few days. Mike is back at work pulling light duty. Shoot, he's young, strong, I know now it won't hurt him!! LOL Thank you all so much, words can't tell you how much. Markie

    1. [CHAHTA] New Choctaw Southeast GenConnect Query Board
    2. Markie
    3. Hi Everyone, I'm home tonight, so I just did a little work. When I got home today, Roots Web had sent approval for us to have a Choctaw Southeast Query "GenConnect Board". I finished getting it all set up a little bit ago. I moved all the queries from the message board to the GenConnect Board and deleted the message board. This will be really great since it will be connected to the Roots Web system and when anyone does a surname search through Roots Web, it will search our board also. Hopefully we can make some connections there. Be sure to put your surnames in the surname box. There was a Choctaw GenConnect board for Oklahoma Territory / Indian Territory already, so I begged them for a Southeast Board. <G> Our board will be for all queries where the folks did "not" live in Oklahoma/IT. I have a link to the other board from ours. So go post all your queries to both boards! You can never have to many queries out for others to read!!! Go to our home page..... scroll down to GenConnect. http://freepages.cultures.rootsweb.com/~choctaw/ Next, I'm figuring out how to make each query that is posted, automatically come to our list. I know how to do it, but for some reason it's not working yet!! Could it be I'm brain dead?? LOL I'm going to my daughters in the morning for a while, but for tonight, I'm here. <G> Thanks to all of you!! Blessings Markie

    3. John, how about Jane Austin McCurtain? She was the wife of Chief Jackson McCurtain. According to Dr. Anna Lewis, in the "Chronicles of Oklahoma", "Mrs.. McCurtain was a most striking example of an Indian woman who assimilated the education and civilization of the whites, and , at the same time, retained the hereditary instincts of her own race and an interest in them. She loved her people and their history, yet she worked for their education and assimilation with the whites. She knew the time was near when the two races would have to live together and she worked to that end". -----Original Message----- From: John & Arla Williams <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: Monday, June 05, 2000 10:42 AM Subject: [CHAHTA] Choctaw Woman needed > I need the story of a Choctaw woman who was a strong woman and helped her people. > I have a friend who has a web page and asked if I would find a story of a Choctaw Woman to put on her Indian Woman Site. >Arla > > >==== CHAHTA Mailing List ==== > To subscribe to CHOCTAW-SOUTHEAST-L: >Send msg. to [email protected] >Put "one" word in "body" of message:... 2. Markie
    3. Just a quick note to let everyone know my kids are fine. Leona's surg. went fine, but she was throwing up all night from the pain med. but is lots better now. The surgeon removed the mass and lumps from Michael's chest, and it was NOT malignant!! After a few tears of relief, mama is doing fine also. <G> I want to thank each and every one of you for your prayers and good wishes. It worked!! And, It really meant a lot to me. I told my kids, "Everything is going to be fine, there are people all over America saying prayers for you"... <G> I'm heading back to the hospital, but had to take a min. to say Thank you. Love and Hugs, Markie

    1. [CHAHTA] I will be gone for a while
    2. Markie
    3. Hello Everyone, I'm sorry that I haven't been able to answer everyone's messages the last few days, but I have been at my youngest daughter's house. I wanted to let everyone know that I will be gone for a week to 10 days or so, as she will be having a hysterectomy in the morning. (Mon.) I will be with her, then go home with her to Texas and help with the kids, and her, until she is able to be up and around again. Also, my 34 year old son is having day surg. "Tues." morning. I'll be with him also. He has had a knot in his left chest for about 4 years, and it is getting bigger. So they are removing it, and a lymph node for a biopsy. The Doctors have assured us that breast cancer is extremely rare in men, but this is a possibility. We won't know anything until after the surgery. I feel good that all will be well with him, but can't wait until it is over and we know for sure! I'll be back with eveyone as soon as I can. Take care Thank you Markie
