    2. Halito (Hello) from John Reed in Minnesota http://www.choctawnation.com/ s the home page for the Oklahoma Choctaw Nation. They have a language department that gives free language courses live over the internet. They are several weeks into the current course but will probably have another in the fall. It is a very good course. You can also call them at 800-522-6170 ext 2340 and ask for Teresa for additional information. Good Luck

    3. If anyone lives within driving distance of Memphis, there's something you just have to see. I have lived within an hour of Memphis for almost 11 yrs and didn't know this existed until last summer. The Chucalissa Museum is located just South of Memphis. It's basically all about the Choctaw, with some about the Chickasaw too. They have a nice gift shop with all kinds of books, tapes and info about the Choctaw...more than I could find in the library. Lots of Charley Jones' tapes too. We went over there today for the Choctaw Festival, and had a wonderful time. There was the Pow-Wow and venders all set up which normally wouldn't be there. The dancers did a great job considering it was 100+. We enjoyed the stickball game and visiting with people that I met at our Pow-Wow last year. I plan to go back soon....maybe when it's cooled off some and really check out the village and the bluffs and see the museum a little better. They have a website if anyone would like to see it....I'll try to put the link here: http://www.people.memphis.edu/~chucalissa/index.html Shelley

    3. Hope no one minds, but I thought this was cute and a friend sent it to me and I thought I'd pass it along. "For My People" - Rated PG Four men-an East Indian, a Jamaican, a Native American, and a white man-gathered at the top of a 30-story building. The East Indian said, "This is for my people," and jumped off. The Jamaican said, "This is for my people," and jumped off. The Native American said, "This is for my people," and pushed the white man off.
