Is there any chance your Chadwells came out of Stafford Co. VA? I have been looking for years for a Bryant Chadwell, the second husband of my ancestor Hannah (first marriage - Gough) who had been married first to Thomas Gough. She married Bryant Chadwell about 1784 in Stafford Co. VA (Thomas died about 1783) when she was about 41 years old. Any information about Stafford Co., VA Chadwells would be greatly appreciated. An old woman, bent and gray with the weight of more than eighty years, sat in the downstairs waiting room at the Union depot last night and sobbed as if her heart would break. She was Mrs. Mary CHADWELL on her way from Iowa to Stillwater, O.T. She had been at the depot since early morning, and her train was not due to leave until 10 o'clock last night. Shortly after she had eaten the meager lunch she carried in a basket, she stepped to the fountain for a drink and in doing so dropped the glove that contained her ticket, the only thing she possessed. Many strangers crowded around her, but the tears would not stay back, and when Depot Master Mont CARNES found and returned her lost ticket, she cried harder than before. She was afraid she would be obliged to stay in the depot over night and through her tears, the only information she could give was that she came from Florence, Ia., and that her son was a merchant there. She was still weeping when a porter assisted her to her train for Stillwater. ====================================================== (I have no connection with this person but I'd appreciate knowing if you found this posting helpful.) ====================================================== Go to the Jackson County, Missouri Message Board to see births, deaths, and marriages in the Kansas City, MO & Kansas City, KS areas. http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=board&r=rw&p=localities.northam.usa.states.missouri.counties.jackson When there: Do an "Advanced Search" and enter the surname (all lower case letters) on the "Find Messages Containing" line. I am glad I saw your post, I tried to do my family tree last year but got a dead end because my mom and her brother and sister didn't know the real last name of their grandfather Riley Perkins. All they knew was that he was adopted or taken in by Thomas Crittenden and Lydia Perkins. I don't know much about him but my mom sure would know. I called her and she said it would be okay to give you her phone number. Her name is Lila Phillips and she also is the grand-daughter of Riley Perkins. She doesn't have a computer so you will have to call her or give me your number so she can call you. Good luck. Write me when you get this message so we can work out the communication. Carole

If you search roots web. It says Spencers father is William Chadwell and Catherine Lane, Williams parents were David Chadwell and Elisabeth Turner. My daughter comes off of David's son John and Mary Polly Adams. Your David in 1880 was living in Brush Creek, Knox Co., KY. John also had a George S. Some people have this lineage a bit messed up because of all the first names over and over again. You can write my daughter at twistie@earthlink.net She may be able to help ya out. I don't have her saved notes anymore. She did have a computer crash sometime ago so she may not have all the info together yet. Make sure you explain where you come off of. Regina
"BURIAL RECORDS", FANNIN COUNTY, TX I am Al Metts of San Antonio, Texas. Please help me if you can as I search for a book or pamphlet written by Rev. John W. Connelly of Fannin County, Texas, - b. 1860, d. 1898. I hope that I can find one of his descendants or some other researcher who has the document. An outstanding lady genealogist, now deceased, who lived in Florida had access to the document long ago. She wrote notes calling the document "Burial Records". In that document, the minister wrote about the burial of James T. Aldridge who died 9 May 1880. Beside the record, Connelly wrote that the wife of James T. Aldridge, "Mary Chadwell (1815-1888) was daughter of David Chadwell (1790-1872)". I need that page and a copy of the title page of the document. The burial was in Porter Cemetery, Fannin County, Texas. My reason for wanting this information is that James T. Aldridge, Mary Chadwell and David C. Chadwell are ancestors of our lovely first lady, Laura Welch Bush. She is a distant cousin of mine. If you do not know of the document, I will appreciate any advice you will give me. Al Metts

Possibly his great-great grandson. I am a descendant of the Yeary's of southwestern Virginia who are related to the Chadwells of the area. My co-worker has just started doing research on the Chadwell. He was told last week that Pleasant Murphy Chadwell was buried "on the river." He is not sure if the river was the Powell or Clinch. In all probablity he thinks it is the Powell. He is going to followup on that information. His great grandfather was John Franklin Chadwell who he thinks was the son of Pleasant Murphy.
