This has been received from the Rootsweb administration: Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state. Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb. As an alternative to RootsWeb Mailing Lists, Ancestry message boards are a great option to network with others in the genealogy community. Message boards are available for free with an Ancestry registered account. Thank you for being part of the RootsWeb family and contributing to this community. Sincerely, The RootsWeb team We are presently setting up email groups at https://groups.io/. If there is interest in migrating this list to groups.io please respond to this message to that effect ASAP. With heavy hearts, Jim and Di
We just wanted to encourage you all to make use of this list in your family searches. A large number of Rootsweb lists have been made inactive due to no messages over a period of time. We want to keep as many lists active as we possibly can and your participation will help toward that goal. If you have a "brick wall" in your family search, send in a message with as much information as you have and let's see if someone may be able to help fill in those blanks. Best wishes, Jim and Di
Does anyone know where I can obtain a copy of the book Chadwell Pioneers and Patriots? Thanks, Connie Osburn
Pleasant Duff Chadwell married Elizabeth "Betty" Bowman in Claiborne County, TN, 13 Mar 1838. Both are buried Chadwell Cemetery, White Oak, Campbell, Tennessee. Bowman was the spelling on the marriage record. That is all the information I know for Elizabeth Betty Bowman Chadwell. Hope this helps. Sincerely, G. I am having trouble finding information on two daughters. Hattie was born in 1899 and died in 1975. She married a Marcum who died in 1926. They had two daughters. He is buried in Brooks Cemetery, Ewing, VA and one of the daughters is buried in Ohio, but I have been unable to find where Hattie is buried. "Dow" and Sallie also had a daughter named Elsie, who appears in 1910 and 1920 US Census. She does not appear in 1930 census with her parents. She may have died or married. Dose anyone have any info on her? Thanking you for any help you can give. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Just a heads up to you there are five (5) Find a Grave listings for Brooks Cemetery in Lee, VA on Find a Grave and only one listed as Brooks, Ewing, Lee, VA. I am sure that they are all one and the same. In the first one listed there are memorials for David Calaway "Dow" Chadwell his wife and son Hubert. First and foremost there needs to be some correction from find a grave and if all of these are the same cemetery they need to be added as the same cemetery, there does not need to be five listing on Find a Grave. So this needs to be straightened up before anymore memorials are added. I am attempting to contact each of these to point out there errors and let's hope that this can be corrected. I have only found surname Chadwell in the first listing which has 18 memorials. Sincerely, G.
