Ira, and others: I have wondered about the "!" for a long time. In several GEDCOM files that I have imported into CFT, each entry in the Notes for each person is preceded by this pesky exclamation point. Does anyone know why this symbol is used, what was its original purpose? It sure is a nuisance to go through thousands of Notes and remove the danged thing. SgtGeorge
