I seem to be having troubles with Fonts other than Western Europe (Latin-1) in the new Ver 3. Let me tell you a bit about the languages and we'll go from there. I categorize the world's languages into 4 groups: Group 1: Western Europe (Latin-1) which use the normal ANSEL windows characters. Group 2: Other alphabet based languages which write left-to-right: Eastern European, Cyrillic and Greek, as well as most Indian languages like Hindi, Gujarati, Bengali, etc. and most other languages in the world. Group 3: Right-to-Left alphabetic languages: Hebrew and Arabic. Group 4: Ideographic languages: Chinese, Japanese and Korean. Group 1 Languages are basically taken care of even in Ver 2. Group 2 is the next group I am trying to accomodate. (I hope to be able to also eventually be able to allow Group 3 and 4 but with 4 maybe somewhat limited.) But what I am finding is that my program has problems with the current fonts that Microsoft distributes with Windows. Specifically I am experimenting with "Arial Greek" and "Arial CYR" (Cyrillic). I can get certain strings, entry boxes and lists to use these fonts but other controls won't. The problem is definately my computer language problem. But on further thoughts I begin to realize that I could have major problems in distributing a language file which uses certain fonts as a person in Russia or Poland may not have the font that was set for in my language file. Anyway, I am not certain what I am looking for here, other than maybe those in Eastern Europe, Russia or Greece that may be using CFT-Win, can you tell me anything about what the standard fonts are that are in use? I do have a problem with copyright if I try to distribute any of these fonts with CFT-Win. Another idea is to purchase from a font vendor the rights to certain fonts which I would ask those in other countries to use. But as far as the Microsoft Arial CYR and Arial Greek fonts I am thinking that they may have something in them (some unicode marker) that won't allow them to be used in my program, but that other fonts - without these standard markers may be able to be used in the program. Any ideas on any FREEWARE Greek, Eastern Europe and Cyrillic fonts? Thanks, Ira ---------------------------------------------------------- Ira J.
