I don't like to use the mouse all the time either. >2. Family group. >I do not see any information in the blank area between Marr and SEX. Also if other than natural parents a letter of adopted type will appear in the blank area. >The pop up screen Parents shows all the parents, but I would like to be able >to see the relation to the child. There should be some "icons" - letters - showing whether the parent is Natural, Adopted, Foster, or other. Are you saying you don't see any such thing? >4. Story tab. >I do not quite see the use of this, apart from being a debugging tool. >What is the intention? Is it a preview of a printout? >The Misc.Data are often not shown. I'm curious as to other users opinions about this? I thought that perhaps this was one on-line window where you could read all info about the Key Individual. And you can also jump to anyone shown to see their story. >5. Edit Individual. >The switching to the Edit screen flashes. >I again see a blank area between Event and Sur without any information. >A lot of my Placenames has disappeared, they are erroneously converted to >Adresses in the conversion from vers.2, - please do not do that. >I would like the screen to show if an Event is marked Sensitive. Again, blank area has icons for notes, sources, whether the event is single or family event. Do you not see icons??? >6. Edit Event. >The Misc.Data does'nt show up in the story. >I expected that the purpose of the Free Format was to provide a modification >of the standard format for this specific event. >The actual function is not much different from what the Misc.Data does, so >is it really needed? The difference between "Free Format Date" and "Misc Data". Both are lesser used fields. The intention of the Free Format date is to enter a date that may not fit the standard - such as "Christmas 1997" or some old Latin Holy Day names that you might find in medieval Europe. Also usefully for entering "time" of event. The Misc Data varies depending on the event. For many religious events it is meant to include the name of the person who performed the rite. Thus they both get used differently in a story sentence and both are needed. >7. Name Search. >I have many persons with the same name. The NameSearch starts with the person who you stopped with last search. I guess I hear you saying that you prefer it always start on top? > >8. I see what you say about the direction of creating a witness event. However, not sure what I would do if you didn't attach someone already in the database as a witness to the event. >10. Sources. >I am glad to be able to register more than one source. >But I am confused about the new Source details. >What I would like to see is a Source information which in accordance with >Gedcom is divided into two parts: >- The Source Record itself with a Source Descriptive Text >- Details about the Source as related to the specific Event. > >The Event will have a pointer to a Source Record placed in a Source List. >Following this pointer is a Note field with details related to both the >Source Record and its specific use for this Event. What you describe here sounds exactly like what I did. The Reference is the Source Record itself (the name of a book). The Detail is a detail for a specific event (such as the page number of the book). However, in CFT-Win 3 you can use the specific detail for more than one event.
