    1. RE: Beta # Ver. 3
    2. Ira I think what was asked was a feature similar to Family Tree Maker's ability to pick 2 related people and show the direct line between the 2 people. As well, FTM can create a GEDCOM of all people in a given report, and it's possible to pick the number of generations you want to include. For example if you want the first 3 generations of descendants for a person, you can easily do it. With CFT you would have to get all descendants or manually pick the ones you want. Another useful report would be the Collapsed Ancestor Chart as in Brother's Keeper. I have about 900 ancestors in my tree and to print them off requires about 75 pages. With BK it requires only 1 line per person so about 15 pages. BK also has the ability to limit generations. These features combined with CFT's ability to send a report to a text file would create a very useful report. I consider CFT a superior product to both these programs but these are features I appreciate in the other programs. Stuart Ward -----Original Message----- From: Ira J. This sounds like the Marking in Ver 2 where you pick a person and then choose to mark all of that person's ancestors or ancestral branch or descendants or descendant branch. In Version 3 I will have something similar. BUT this will be handled via "Selection Lists". In fact there is some work already done on the selection lists - but I have not entered the ancestor descendent stuff. I need to add that. The purpose of the Selection Lists vs the old Marking done in Ver 2 is that with the Selection Lists you can create multiple "marked" lists, thus you could have one List that was named "Pres. Thomas Jefferson's Ancestors" and another named "Pres Thomas Jefferson's Descendants" and thus when an Indexed Book is created you simply tell one report to use one list and the other report to use a different list. OR when you do a GED Export you tell it which Selection List to use and there goes the GED file. I hope the use of these Selection Lists is now clearer.
