G'day Ira, >Step 1. Create a NEW Reference with just the Ref part of the source. >Step 2. Add appropriate Details for that Reference. >Step 3. MERGE a Source Detail with the identical Source Reference. This -----------------------SNIP----------------------- >the case we have descibed you want to make sure you select the Detail First >and the Reference Second. The first selection is always the PRIMARY and is Found that to work OK with one minor glitch. After step 2, I had the following References:- NKC Diaries NKC Diary 1916 NKC Diary 1917 NKC Diary 1918 NKC Diary 1920 and the following Detail when NKC Diaries was selected:- 1916 1917 1918 1920 I selected 1916 and "Detail" Merge. I then clicked on NKC Diary 1916 to select it BUT the window "defaulted" to the first Reference in my list (Ararat Advertiser) and I then had to scroll (or select by typing NKC) down to the NKC Diary 1916 before selecting it as the "secondary" with the "Reference" Merge. All worked OK after that but this "defaulting" occurred whenever I wanted to change from the Detail window to the Reference window. It also occurred when I was using a copy(Ctrl C)/Paste (Ctrl V) to build the "details" under the new "Primary" Reference from the original references and was changing back to the Reference window from the Detail window. No problem - just an inconvenience :-( HURU, Mike
