Hi Jesper and All, Jesper sent me two sample images to illustrate the problem he was having, and I have found the following solution:- JPG files have two different data compression algorithms available. Huffman Standard compression, and Huffman Progressive compression. CFTW is only able to read the Standard compression. Jespers problem files had Progressive compression. The solution is to read the problem files into a picture editing program, and save them in the JPG format, with the Standard Compression option enabled. I use Paint Shop Pro, which does this very nicely. A change in an option must have occurred with the scanning software, so I would suggest that is the place to look to avoid the problem in future.
