G'day Ira, Beta 3 looks great and seems to work respectably well. I like the method of presentation of the "workplace". I am working my way through a few "tests" and am fully appreciative that any "glitches" that I report may well be the result of a "work in progress" however FWIW here they are as I come across them:- 1. Item 3.2 on the web site instructions says:- "Press Start, Run and enter: c:\cftw3\regsvr32 c:\cftw\tx4ole.ocx" As the ONLY copy of "tx4ole.ocx" that I could find was in the c:\cftw3 directory (or its equivalent in my installation), I assume that the last part of the statement should read "c:\cftw***3***\tx4ole.ocx" 2. I imported one of my "spare" "trial" DBs (422 IRNs) from CFTW2.90 into Beta3 without problems except that my STANDARD EVENTS reverted to the CFT basic list. e.g - I have a "User added" event - PROM (Military Promotion). I found that all my promotions became "Marriage" (at least to the same wife :-)) with no dates. I assume this is caused because I did not install over the old version of CFTW. I found that by adding a new event "PROM" to Beta3 that all the old promotions appeared with the correct dates. (as I expected would happen.) 3. I think the idea of being able to construct the "story line" using the new format ["%N started a business %D p{at} %P m{called} %M"] is EXCELLENT. Have not done a test yet but assume that "p{at}" means use the "at" only if there is a PLACE entered. Just tested - assumption correct - It works- a GREAT advance! 4. Tried adding a *.wav file to my Media (Photo) Folder but could not get it to play although I can add photos to individuals and preview them. (Didn't really expect sound to work) 5. Story Options work well (Leurve the colours ;-)) and story presents well. 6. Having the ages of my living relatives and children makes birthday greetings easy! 7. Not sure why the columns for Marriages and Sex cannot be modified. 8. Ira said:- No asterisks for photos and notes BUT there should appear some little icons: a small camera and a sheet of paper. If not make sure you really have notes and photos attached for that person. I now note that there are no headings "Adp N P" between Marriages and Sex on my "Family Group" pages so no "asterisks" OR ICONS. 9. Database closed perfectly. and reopened again. 10. Even though I have no dates against Death and Burial in my Individual dialog and I am ticked as living they appear as statements in my Story.
