    1. Gedcom import - special characters in sources

    3. Hello Ira, There is a problem concerning gedcom import of special characters in sources. As we know, CFTW 2.27x has four options for character sets during gedcom export. I have tried all four on the same database and then imported the gedcom files back again to four different databases - using CFTW 2.27x (I think the same would happen in earlier versions - but I have not discovered it earlier). I have used the same computer for making the database, the exports and the imports. The following happens: 1) IBM-PC Character set All characters come out correct everywhere - including the sources. 2) Ansel Character set 3) Ansi Character set 4) ISO 8859-1 for html The special characters come out wrong in the sources - but are perfect everywhere else for all three character sets. I am talking about the 3 special Norwegian characters - I have not tested all the others. As far as I can see from the gedcom files that are being created, the source characters are correct in the gedcom files. So I think it has something to do with the import routine.
