Hi all, Being a licenced CFT-Win user now for more than 1 1/2 year and having 'entered' the data for more than 2.5k individuals and their 'associated events' I think I'm allowed to give some user critique on some of the printing/reporting functionality within the CFT-Win system. To my opinion this printing facility is sometimes complete and sometimes far from complete depending of what you're trying to achieve. I think it is a perfect tool to develop a family-booklet as long you a database of limited size. It is different when you have some thousands of individuals all linked together however. Maintaining the printed version of the family tree (the family archives) is very cumbersome when CFT-Win however. Each time when you have worked on your family tree you would normally update your paper-copies (a bunch of binders containing your 'collections' on individuals, filed in numerical order) with new printouts on these 'updated individuals'. Here is where the pain comes in when working with CFT-Win's reporting tool: - Selection of individuals from the LIST WINDOW is not always easy. Normally I would write down the IRN's of the persons I worked. Now however I have to write down the names and details (there are many persons with the same names and even with the same years!). This causes a lot of unnecessary work! - Printing the INDIVIDUAL STORY for a number of selected persons with the option of having a page-break in between these individuals is OK but... if doing so, why are the resource names not printed each time after each separate individual. Ideally a choice would be available. - There is no option available to do automatic page-breaks in an the INDIVIDUAL SUMMARY for an number of selected persons. This is not logical at all! The wish-list of SR's for me in order of priority would now be: 1/ Possibility to select from an numerical list of IRNS's 2/ Page breaks option available for INDIVIDUAL SUMMARY when printing more than one individual 3/ Option available in the INDIVIDUAL STORY to have the resource text together with each individual or at the very end of the report. Please understand me well. For me CFT-win is still the best available option at the moment. The application is VERY STABLE and the database application underneath is very reliable and that's what should be said also! I don't know if others would like to have the same functionality. Pls. let me have your comments too. Regards, Ted Voordouw / The Netherlands E-mail:ted_voordouw@hp.com
