For creating SMALL genealogical diagrams by input from scratch, I recommend GenoPro (http://www.genopro.com/). Very easy to use and very nice results. I have to warn however that the free version USED to install adware. I don't know if it still does, but I haven't seen the subject discussed recently in the discussion boards, as it used to be. In any case it is well worth getting the full version, GenoPro Gold, $24, which never had any such problems. I said "small diagrams" and "from scratch", but in fact you can import your whole tree into GenoPro via gedcom. The layout is a mess, of course, since the imported information doesn't say where to place the individuals. You can sort the layout out by hand, and the result can be very satisfying, but when you have changed your tree in CFTW and want to reimport it, you have to sort the layout out all over again. So I don't recommend this for making a diagram of a large part of your tree, except for a special occasion, or unless you are prepared to maintain your data separately in CFTW and in GenoPro, which is what I do. Of course another way to make a small diagram is to import the lot and delete everything you don't want. Ciarán Ó Duibhín.
