Hi Margaret I guess you are trying to copy to a floppy which can only hold 1.44 Mb and the file is bigger than this.. Two solutions 1. Copy to a CD if you have a CD burner on your old computer and a CD reader on your new computer. 2. Use WINZIP which will compact the file and, if necessary, split it over several floppies. If you haven't got WINZIP you can download an evaluation copy from http://www.winzip.com/ You need to install WINZIP on both computers. Other suggestions a) Use a USB pen drive b) use a utility that will chop the file up across several floppies (do a google on 'File Chopper') c) If both PCs have firewire cards, link them together with a firewire cable and copy the files that way d) eMail the files from you old PC to your self an receive the email on you new PC (not all of these are easy, mind you! Option a is one of the easiest and pen drives are soooo cheap these days. I recently bought a 1 GB one for GBP60, so you could probably get a 128Mb one for GBP20) -----Original Message----- From: Ian Westergaard [mailto:ian.westergaard@ihug.co.nz] Sent: 12 January 2005 02:21 To: CFT-WIN-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [CFTW] transferring data Hi Margaret I guess you are trying to copy to a floppy which can only hold 1.44 Mb and the file is bigger than this..
