I know that this is off topic but I think there is a Brazilian subscriber to this list who might be able to help me. I am translating the 1850 diary (from Danish) of my gg uncle. He is in Brazil, first at Bahia and then Maceio and finally Rio de Janeiro before moving on to Valparaiso. The diary mentions many small towns which I can't find in my atlas. Is there a detailed on-line map of the areas that I am interested in? I have been unable to find one. If someone can help me please reply off list.
