Thanks to Floyd, Paul, Ira, Roger and Hooker. The simplest plan seems to be as Ira suggests, to update the database on one machine from the other. Presumably via a CD or external memory? Glad to see you consider installation on more than one computer is okay, Ira. I really hadn't considered that before Roger mentioned it. Thanks again all, Sandra New Quay, West Wales, UK
If you don't have the Cs networked already then the simplest solution is a USB memory stick. Just make sure that you take separate backups, because memory sticks have a higher failure rate than hard discs. If you are going to use the media as he master data file - that is you will not copy the data to the current PC's hard disc then I wold not recommend using CD. REad /wre speeds will be a bit slow. -----Original Message----- From: Sandra Burge [mailto:sandrabur@tesco.net] Sent: 06 March 2005 22:32 To: CFT-WIN-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [CFTW] Re: CFT-WIN-D Digest V05 #19 Thanks to Floyd, Paul, Ira, Roger and Hooker. The nominated files are then updated automatically to the ones which are newest. Thanks Harvey, sounds good. Sandra
Hello Sandra, I'm sorry, my little contribution got swallowed up amongst the previous ones before I noticed the error. Just for clarity here it is again: "If you can join the two PCs by network or laplink, then it should be possible to use the windows synchronisation (briefcase) feature. The nominated files are then updated automatically to the ones which are newest." Cheers Harvey Nimmo
