I'm transferring data between two CFTW databases (3.14.d) using GEDCOM 5.5, and I'm having a problem that the data I end up with in the destination database isn't quite the same as I started with in the source database. To illustrate the problem, in my original database I set up an individual with six events, every event having both "Miscellaneous Data" and "Notes". His story reads: Fred was baptised January 1, 1901 at London, England by Rev J P Morgan. This is a BAPM event Fred lived January 1, 1925 in London, England Miscellaneous data. This is a RESI event Fred's occupation was blacksmith January 1, 1960 at London, England. This is an OCCU event Fred lived January 1, 1970 at 1 Smith Street, London Miscellaneous data. This is an ADDR event Fred died January 1, 1980 of old age at London, England. This is a DEAT event London, England - January 1, 1999: Miscellaneous data This is a User-Added event When I export this to a GEDCOM, and then import the GEDCOM back into CFTW, the story then reads: Fred was baptised January 1, 1901 at London, England by Rev J P Morgan. Description: Rev J P MorganThis is a BAPM event Fred lived January 1, 1925 in London, England Miscellaneous data. Description: Miscellaneous dataThis is a RESI event Fred's occupation was blacksmith January 1, 1960 at London, England. This is an OCCU event Fred lived January 1, 1970 at 1 Smith Street, London Miscellaneous data. This is an ADDR event Fred died January 1, 1980 of old age at London, England. Description: old ageThis is a DEAT event London, England - January 1, 1999: Miscellaneous data Description: Miscellaneous dataThis is a User-Added event In this example, the ADDR and OCCU Events work OK, but for the others the "Miscellaneous Data" gets imported twice, once into the Miscellaneous Data field (as it should be), and then a second time into the Notes field, along with the "Description: " from the GEDCOM. (BTW, on my database I've used the Story Editor to change some of the standard "Stories", but I don't think that this is the cause of the problem.) I've tried a number of different Events; ADDR, NALT & OCCU work OK, but BAPM, BIRT, BURI, CENS, DEAT, MARR, RESI & User-added events all have the same problem. There also seems to be a further issue with "Cause of Death", which is exported by CFTW as: 1 DEAT 2 NOTE Description: old age rather than the way that I think it should be on GEDCOM 5.5: 1 DEAT 2 CAUS old age Similarly GEDCOM's which do have "CAUS" lines are not *imported* correctly into CFTW - e.g. you end up with "2 CAUS old age" in the Notes, rather than "old age" in the Miscellaneous Data.
