Try a bit of lateral thinking. If the part of the file you want to keep is at the end, press Ctrl+End to jump to the end of the file. Scroll UP, it's a shorter route than scrolling down. Place the cursor before the first record you want to keep. Press Ctrl+Shft+Home, this will highlight all text between the cursor and the start of the file. Press Ctrl+X to Cut the highlighted text.
