    1. Remove Source data in Gedcom
    2. A.J.M. Weijenberg
    3. Hello, Every now and then i give somebody a gedcom file of (part of) my family tree. In some cases i do not like to give too much data. The export function of Cumberland does give the capability to exclude data like 'notes'. If i also do not want to include source data i first make an export to gedcom, then i import this file again in Cumberland and remove all the source data (with the source tool). Finaly i export this cleaned up file to make it available to interested parties. The question i have is; is there an easier way to do this? And if not (a question to IRA); Is it possible to include a new checkbox in the Gedcom export function (in the option 2 tab); 'Include Individual and Event sources'. Thanks Jos Weijenberg ------------------------------------------------- zie header voor mijn emailadres -------------------------------------------------

    3. G'day Jos, > In some cases i do not like to give too much > data. That makes plenty of sense to me - BUT - > If i also do not > want to include source data Why would you not want to do this? If I get data from others I ALWAYS want to know their sources even if it is something like "My mother" otherwise such data is at best a "myth". With the example given it may well still be a myth ;-). > The question i have is; is there an easier way to do this? I assume that there are only SOME sources you do not wish to divulge - say "UK Prison Records 1935". In this case the event may well be sensitive and could be excluded in the Export process. 1. I would do a restore of a backup file, with a new name. 2. I would remove any sources not wanted using Source Editor. 3. I would then do the GEDCOM export. Don't know if it would work but it should save you one step of your Export -> Import -> Export procedure. Cheers.... Mike.
