    3. Tim, I will deal in this situation in the following way: Create a new Event (User event) naming it "Registered Partnership" (J. E. Brammer sugestion). Connect the couple to that new event. Connect childs as Adopted. Open the event Not married. Connect the real Mother and add father as "Unnamed". Connect the normal Child. For the other woman, follow de same procedure with the child if is the case. Regards Leonel

    3. My answer to this question is that you can basically do whatever you would like. I do not know of any "standards". CFT allows you to connect two people together as even with the same gender. And you can tag the children as Adopted, Foster, Other, etc. You can create a special event as Leonel suggested, however you might wish. But in all unusual cases I normally suggest after doing all this - a short note in the Individual or an event note is always helpful simply explaining in plain terms the situation.
