    3. Thank you! The images now show up in the list, but I'm having one more problem with the pictures :( I read in the manual that the first picture added to the "selected" images list for each individual is the picture that will show up as a thumbnail on the main window of the program and also be on the exported webpage beside that individual's name. I added an image to the list and went back to the main window and now there is a white rectangular box in the corner of the main program - but no picture. There is also an icon of a camera beside the name of that individual. I went to export to html to see if the picture would show up on the webpage(I checked all options to include pictures, albums, all records, etc). Beside the person's name on the exported webpage is a broken image placeholder, but no image. I checked the directory where it copied the html pages to and the program had copied the image to the same directory. The image was a jpg standard encoded(not progressive) and I also tried a gif. Neither worked. Any ideas? Thank you. -----Original Message----- From: Ira J Lund [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Monday, September 24, 2001 8:15 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [CFTW] media problem At 09:01 PM 9/23/01 -0400, you wrote: >When I go to edit an individual and click on the media tab, choose get >media file, choose an image (or any media), the program asks "Copy these >files to the Database Image Directory?" Let me walk you through the proper process. First you need to create a folder where you are going to place all your Media files - such as c:\cftw34\photos. Now you scan or copy all your photos to this folder. Next inside the program go to Option Menu - Database Configuration - Database 1 Tab and click on the Media button. Set this to the folder you created (c:\cftw3\photos). The simply tells the database where you have placed all your images. Now when you edit a person and click on the Media tab, you will see the list of images available on the top. The "Get Media" button should be rarely used (in fact it is confusing to people as you see here). It is used in a case where you now discover that there is a photo somewhere else on your disk and wished it were in c:\cftw3\photos. You click that button, find the file and it simply copies it to c:\cftw3\photos. The hang occurs because the program is confused since the Media folder has not been set (as described in first paragraph) and thus the hang. Whenever you see this what is happening internally in the database is that there has been some "empty" photo slots created ahead of the first photo you see for that person. The display picks up the empty slot instead of the real first photo. To fix it for now, do the following: Highlight the first photo in list on "selected" photos. Now press the UP button at top toolbar several times. This will cause it to move up above the empty slots, even though it doesn't look like anything happened. Click on the General tab to see if the photo shows. If not click the up a few more times. This should take care of it (temporarily until I fix it). I will likely add to the Rebuild to remove the empty slots and possibly something on the Media Tab to help avoid this again. Ira ------------------------------------------------ Mr. Ira J.
