Hi, Can any body help me. I am trying to change the display on the Residence Event to show Address rather than Place. I do this by clicking on Tools, Standard Editor, Edit and change the display box to Address then close. When I re-open this Event it shows Address instead of Place which is what I want but when I actually use this i.e. add this event to an individual, Place is displayed rather than Address. Am I doing something wrong? Thanking you in anticipation. Lisa Scott Sunny Essex, England. TYLER, SIGGERS, MAULE www.speckledduckegg.evemail.net/family_history

Lithuanian - Yes. Currently there is not a translation for all the various words and phrases but it does support the language. Go to Option Menu - Program Configuration - Language Tab. Click ADD and add Lithuanian. You'll get a list of words/phrases to translate. You can translate later. But closing that window will prepare your program for Lithuanian support. Now remember there are two areas you can set languages: 1. Database Language for data entry and reporting (Option Menu - Database Configuration - DB1 tab) 2. Program/Menu Language for entire program (Option Menu - Program Configuration - Language tab) You can keep the program in one language (such as English) and your database in a second language (Lithuanian). Hello, Do you have Lithuanian language support on "CFT-Win Multi-Lingual Data Files" Best Regards Tadas
A little tip on printing in CFT. I will recommend the program Fine Print - web page http://www.fineprint.com/ It has wonderful print options. If you use Fine Print as your default printer, you will get the option to choose a printer after sending your report to Fine Print. - including your pdf-maker. Price: $49.95. Sigurd Eliassen

Just to clarify - you don't need to restart the computer. All you need to do is exit CFT, change the default printer and then restart CFT. I will add the printer selection to my list of ideas. Even with a rather large database an hour is too long for that report. So something is fishy. I have seen databases that have become so corrupt that the Rebuild doesn't fix it. Hello Sven I had similar troubles with different printer combinations. CFTW uses only the default printer as set at the time you enter CFTW. Ira The ability to choose which printer to use, at the time of printing within CFTW itself, would be a very useful feature for me, too. Maybe this could go on your list for consideration for a future release? Better still would be to be able to have this facility, plus the facility to be able to define a default printer *just for CFTW* i.e. independently of the main Windows default printer setting. I rarely use PDF Writer apart from with CFTW, and having CFTW defaulting to PDF Writer, and all my other programs defaulting to my main Windows printer, would be the perfect combination. Hi Sven I suspect that CFT only uses the default printer. When you installed the new printer it reset the default setting. To change the default setting go to control panel, printers and faxes, right click on the pdf printer and set as default printer. You may have to change this back for your other programs. I downloaded and installed AFT and my first impression is that it doesn't really have the same interface as CFT - looks more like some of the other programs I have looked at briefly. I think that there is a certain amount of similarity between all Family Tree programs in that the basica underlying structure of Individual Records and Marriage Records must be in place to make the family connections possible. Otherwise the details can begin to vary. I have not really spent a lot of time looking at other programs, but the times I have, I have had a hard time since I happen to know and understand CFT so thouroughly that there are some features that I can't seem to do without. For example, has anyone ever seen any other program that allows the creation of Selection Lists with the colored diamonds on right side of Family Group and NameSearch. I use that feature so much I can't do without it and yet have never seen anyone else that has a similar feature. Ira ------------------------------------------------ Mr. Ira J.
