The problem with an 11 generation pedigree chart is that there are too many people to show on a single page. Thus with each generation doubling you get the following: 1. 1 2. 2. 3. 4 4. 8 5. 16 6. 32 7. 64 8. 128 9. 256 10. 512 11. 1024 It is impossible to show 2047 people on a single page (the sum of all the numbers above). Usually what happens is that you have perhaps a single line that has 11 generations and the actual number of people you want to show is much less. What I have done before is use a graphics program to draw diagrams of certain family structures and include them as a graphic in my Word Processor as a page in the book. It does require manual effort and takes time, but you can get things looking the way you want with only showing the people you want. A Word Processor does give the most control to the user. I have created several books also and what I typically do is generate RTF reports from the Lineage RTF or Story RTF Book (File Menu - Publish). Those can be brought to a Word Document. Then I often will save pedigree charts (ancestry tree) diagrams in WMF format. Place those in the Word Document and crop it so the page number does not show. This can be done to almost all reports in CFT. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------- Mr. Ira J. Hi Sandra Your word processor will read the text file created by CFT. Simply open the text file from CFT as you would any other file using your wp. When you create the text file in CFT I would suggest that you do not select "Left Justify All Text". Jerry Port Coquitlam B.C. Write it using Word or similar and then, as you obviously want to keep it with your CFT data, you copy and paste into a DOCUMENT which you make and name via the "Document Editor" (you can just write it in the Document Editor) - I have one such "The Land of Our Forefathers". Most features CFT does not have. The ones that it does I will mention below: 3. You could run Individual Report with certain events listed. Those that are missing will be easy to identify by the empty spaces. 4. Editors Menu - Document Editor. 6. If you hold the mouse over a button for a short while help tips should appear. Perhaps you have inadvertently set the program to Viewer mode? I had found that some people when experimenting with the Electronic Data File Viewer (File Menu - Publish [CD icon]) will set the output folder to the same folder as the CFT program folder and thus overwrite all settings. If this does happen one can go to Help menu - About and click the CD icon there and remove the check from Viewer mode. When someone looks up an individual at a site like Rootsweb, it is best if they have all of the information for that individual with that individual. At opening dialog you would create a NEW database, then once inside that empty database you go to File Menu - Import from Ver 2. If things seem to not be correct at that point I suggest that you first do a Rebuild (Tools Menu) in Ver 2, then do the import, then do another Rebuild after it is over in Ver 3.
