I have a friend who is interested in the CFT software, and I told him I would give his e-mail address to CFT so you could send him the disc and information on purchasing it. Where do I send his e-mail address? Bob Robert Sheldon Telford, Long Beach, CA
I don't send out free disks/CDs. Why don't you just point him to my web site and he can download the software, test it and see if he likes it before he buys it. Yes, it is possible. (A lot of things are possible.) But whether I get time to add it is another question. I will add to my list of ideas. If a person has only ONE set of parents then nothing will be displayed. If a person has more than one set of parents then a B indicates birth parents AND the fact that this person has more than one set of parents. A rebuild can make this go away if there was some sort of corruption in the database. As for the second problem, if it is still a problem maybe you can email the database to me. I can take a look and probably be able to see right away what the problem is. That might be better than guessing. Hello, Is this B in the family group next to the listing of the children? Could this be that you connected a child as a Birth child? I know that when you mark a child as adopted, then there is an A next to them, but i don't know if it does the same with Birth children. Ira? Was the program designed to do this? Hello Sandra, I'm sorry, my little contribution got swallowed up amongst the previous ones before I noticed the error. Just for clarity here it is again: "If you can join the two PCs by network or laplink, then it should be possible to use the windows synchronisation (briefcase) feature. The nominated files are then updated automatically to the ones which are newest." Cheers Harvey Nimmo
Thanks Harvey, sounds good. Sandra

If you don't have the Cs networked already then the simplest solution is a USB memory stick. Just make sure that you take separate backups, because memory sticks have a higher failure rate than hard discs. If you are going to use the media as he master data file - that is you will not copy the data to the current PC's hard disc then I wold not recommend using CD. REad /wre speeds will be a bit slow. -----Original Message----- From: Sandra Burge [mailto:sandrabur@tesco.net] Sent: 06 March 2005 22:32 To: CFT-WIN-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [CFTW] Re: CFT-WIN-D Digest V05 #19 Thanks to Floyd, Paul, Ira, Roger and Hooker. I meant "Family" as in Household. In other words I don't mind if you and your wife or even children at home all use one registration on multiple computers. Even so, how would I know you are sharing with someone else unless someone reports you. I don't really loose any sleep worrying about it. I believe most "genealogists" are honest. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------- Mr. Ira J.
