Ira....I have the fonts in proper place and when I preview a report at 76% ...runs offf page...100% preview reads ok....but still some printing is crowded and typed over on a line or two of the first page of a report...Is there any one of the fonts preferrable or does the program select best suited font?..I will try changing the lines involved in original data in file maybe it is typed wrong? ---------------------------------------------- And now for today's tip... AVOID ATTACHING Avoid sending attachments to mailing lists. If you send an attachment as small as 20K to a mailing list that has 100 members, you generate over 2MB of increased Internet traffic. When you consider that most attachments are considerably larger than 20K and most mailing lists have many more members, you're looking at serious Internet slowdown. But for some reason, occaisionally, I get reports that the fonts didn't get installed. This is normally noticable by a few letters being cut off on the right hand side or on list reports where one column seems to run into the next. The solution: 1. If you are using Windows 3.1 go to the Control Panel and Fonts and install the 4 Lund fonts. They should have been copied into the c:\windows\system directory. 2. If you are using Window 95 then use Explorer to find the fonts. They should be in c:\windows\fonts. (Although some earlier versions of CFT-Win inadvertantly installed inot c:\windows\font - without the "s". If this is the case you may copy the four files to the proper location.) Anyway, if you double mouse-click on the fonts one at a time to view them, this should install them so that they will be recognized by CFT-Win - as well as othe programs. ---------------------------------------------------------- Ira J. I recently upgraded from version 2.08 to 2.26. Every time I start CFTW now I get scores of screens telling me that something is wrong with the format of the date. Each screen is a date from my data. I have to hit OK on each screen to finally get to my data. Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Hello Ira and all, Gedcom export and marking/unmarking of records I am wondering if I have misunderstood how this function should work. Therefore I will explain what I am trying to do - but fail. I want to make a gedcom file of all desceased descendants of one of my 2. great grandfathers. Therefore I do the following: 1) Mark all descendants w/spouses of that couple. The result after step one is 517 individuals. 2) Unmark all living. Step 2) takes forever (it feels like that) - and the result is that all living are marked (Yes - I have checked the Unmark field). I believed that step 2 should unmark all the marked persons that are living - leaving me with the deceased individual of the selected descendants - but it does not seem to work that way. Ira - will you explain how this is meant to work? Regards Sigurd Eliassen Norway

I have found - in my informal survey - that the reason that some of my CFTW friends have seen salmon pink on my home pages rather than the intended warm ivory was that their Win95 systems were still set to the default 8-bit (256) color rather than something higher. I can see no practical reason (correct me if I'm wrong) for keeping a system at 8-bit color when it's easily changed to 16-, 24-, or even 32-bit color. Go to My Computer/ Control Panel/ Display/ Settings/ Color palette and click on High or True Color, and OK. Then see whether the pages are still salmon pink. Hope this helps. Enough said.
