There are a set of 4 LUND fonts that were supposed to be installed when CFT-Win is installed. But for some reason, occaisionally, I get reports that the fonts didn't get installed. This is normally noticable by a few letters being cut off on the right hand side or on list reports where one column seems to run into the next. The solution: 1. If you are using Windows 3.1 go to the Control Panel and Fonts and install the 4 Lund fonts. They should have been copied into the c:\windows\system directory. 2. If you are using Window 95 then use Explorer to find the fonts. They should be in c:\windows\fonts. (Although some earlier versions of CFT-Win inadvertantly installed inot c:\windows\font - without the "s". If this is the case you may copy the four files to the proper location.) Anyway, if you double mouse-click on the fonts one at a time to view them, this should install them so that they will be recognized by CFT-Win - as well as othe programs. ---------------------------------------------------------- Ira J. 3. G'day Ira, I have just realised that there seems to be a slight glitch when printing a Descendent Story ( I have not done exhaustive tests on other reports). I have just had a story covering three pages which I wished to print pages 1 & 2 and then put 3 on the back of 1. When I first called it up I went to Preview and after deciding how I wished to print executed the PRINT command in the Preview pane. I was given the "selection" dialogue Pages x to x and selected 1 to 2. When I then wanted to print page 3 I executed the PRINT command in the Reports dialogue BUT was not offered the page selection dialogue. I could get used to the need to Preview first if I want to do a double sided print but it is a "trap for young players". I seem to recall that there have been discussions regarding the print odd and even approach being on the wish list for the future. Is this glitch a fact or is it me :-( Oh yes! 32 bit version 2.26x HURU Mike

    2. Jens Erik (Mik) Brammer
    3. Dear Hans-Herwig In the standard Editor window you should see an active ADD-button at the bottom. Click ADD, and you will see a listing of all existing events. Click the event you want to add and go on from there! It should be this simple. If you don't find the event you need in the list, you can go to the Editors menu on top and click Standard Events Editor. Here you can Add your personal events. Another thing: if you get stuck somewhere, try Help. It is very good in CFTW. Good luck and kind regards Jens E. 3. YES. It has been a problem for a few people and aggravating! And I am not happy with it either. I can't control it as it is the little install program that I bought does it, but I have thought of a way to work around it to stop that question from coming up and I shall fix it in Ver 2.28. 2. Ira J. Lund
    3. Well, I though I had a fix for the Living Flag thing in the latest Ver 2.27 so that it was retained through a GED export and subsequent import. In any case the Flags can be set (somewhat) by using the Rebuild. There is an item there that you check and set the age at which to fix the living at. Ira At 11:20 AM 1/30/98 -0500, you wrote: >I need help from the list: >I am preparing part of my database for GEDCOM export and I have a problem: > >When I select Export for GEDCOM, I keep all program defaults, i.e. > Standard GEDCOM > Version 5.5 > ANSEL > >Then I export the file. 1. Re: double entries
    2. Ira J. Lund
    3. Yes, it occurs whenever there is any slight differences detected between the events in the two files. Even if the note field does not match character for character you will get double events (one from each of the original files). This way you have to decided which event to keep or manually cut and paste from one to the other before deleting the extra. 1. Re: CFT-Win Disk Problem
    2. Ira J. Lund
    3. Just recieved a note from another user that the source of the problem is a mix-up in the labels. Disk #2 Win95 is actually Disk #2 Win 3.1 and vise-versa. Anyone experiencing this problem can actually resolve it by switching labels on the Disk #2s. (Boy I sure was puzzled as to what caused the corruption, but this seems to be a likely answer.) 3. I need help from the list: I am preparing part of my database for GEDCOM export and I have a problem: When I select Export for GEDCOM, I keep all program defaults, i.e. Standard GEDCOM Version 5.5 ANSEL Then I export the file. It readily creates the .ged file. I then decided to test this file with CFTW by importing it. When the import into my newly created database is finished, all people with no death date filled in is reported to be DEAD. This may go back to when I started with version 1.x (upgraded all along to present version 2.27) and Ira found that version 1.x made the "no date" entries as a "zero" value instead of a "null" value in my database. Ira had to correct version 2.23 through 2.26 to program around this. I need the REBUILD function to fix my "zero" dates to null (or was it vice versa?) or else I will be unable to export to .ged correctly. I can't be the only person who started with the early version of CFTW who has this problem. Since this probably requires a version update, and I need to export this file soon, does anyone have an alternative work-around? Karen Pastuzyn

    3. After merging several files I now find that many of the people have double entries. e.g. the sequence of birth, marraige, death for each is repeated. 3. Warning! It seems that there is a problem with Disk #2 of all disks that have been mailed from Cumberland Family Software and it will not properly install. CFT-Win Ver 2.27 was released Jan 09, 1998 and we believe that the beginning of the problem may have started at that time. The ZIP files on the web site (www.cf-software.com) are just fine. If you have downloaded from there then all should have installed correctly. However, if you have received disks from Cumberland Family Software since Ver 2.27 was released and you are unable to get the program going because of an error you recieve during the installation of disk #2, then please e-mail me directly (ira.lund@cf-software.com). I will send you a new disk, if you need one. Tell me which version you want (Windows 95 or Windows 3.1). Many apologies for this problem.
