    3. Hi Ira I have observed a problem. When I generate above, selecting a child, using preview, then page 1 is empty, page 2 starts ok, giving reference to page 1. I cannot see how to correct it. database check shows all ok. When I view the tree, all members appear correctly. The result is a 50 pages report. Takes a long time to generate - wonder what happens. Guidance database consist of odd 400 family members. Pls advise ! I would like to generate a presentation with photos (if any available) using the decendants report, this works ok, selecting the oldest member in a given family, but I would like to show a combination of the different family lines to show where/how they integrate. Any idea how to do that ? Pls advise ! Rgds Jens Fleinert

I run SCANDISK and DEFRAG "TWICE A WEEK"!!!!! Not everyone and not all systems have the same problems. That in itself is the major problem. There is absolutely nothing consistent in the way Win95 loses files, programs, crashes, corrupts files, etc., etc. It all depends on the bios, maker of the memory chips, maker of the Video board, maker of the sound board, and so on, ad infinitum. Win95 has so many programming glitches one never knows when the "phantom" will strike next. You could go years without a problem. Someone else with an identical system, but with different programs installed may experience problems on a regular basis. I personally could put up with all the nonsense of Win95 IF I could make Win95 keep my settings for the icons on the Desktop!!!!! I open up a group, resize it the way I want it, set it to have the view I want, arrange the icons the way I want them, and sometimes they stay that way for days. Then the next time I reboot, all the settings are back to the original install default. From what I have read in all the FAQ files on many, many web sites, it is a problem that even Microsoft doesn't know how to solve. Now you tell me, if MS can't solve this simple problem, how can they provide an operating system that will work with all computer systems, with all software programs, with all drivers, etc.? Let us pray that Win98 will be as much better than Win95, as DOS 5.0 was better than 4.0. I'll bet there isn't 1% of you users who every used DOS 4.0. Am I correct? If you missed it, consider yourselves lucky. Win95 is just about as stable as DOS 4.0 was. SgtGeorge

    3. Ira I have rebuilt all files. When the child is the Key Ind on the main screen the correct parents are shown. There are 458 names in the database. I still have the same problem with the report if the engagement event is shown in the correct chronological order. I don't know whether it is a bug or something I'm doing wrong (quite possible). 1. Problems with "Return Recipts" for EMail on the Lists
    2. George W. Durman
    3. We have seen an increasing number of "junk" messages lately, dealing with "Return Receipts" for email posted to the mailing lists. Having written to several of the servers sending back these "Return Receipts", it has been brought to our attention that the servers are set to do this ONLY if there was such a request in an original email from a subscriber. What this means is, PLEASE do NOT set your email browser to ask for a "Return Receipt"!!!!! Unbeknownst to any of us, this not only gets the sender a receipt for his individual message, but, when that message's target is a mailing list, then gets sent out to several subscribers, the servers of some of those subscribers will automatically send a "Return Receipt" back to the MAILING LIST, not back to the ORIGINAL SENDER. It seems that anytime a subscriber is using server at a college or university, they are ALWAYS set to send a "Return Receipt", and of course it shows up either on the List itself or in the List- owners mailbox. In either case, they are nuisances and serve no useful purpose. I use Eudora and it has a button to click, "RR", at the top in the button bar. If this is checked, you are asking for a "Return Receipt" and will cause unnecessary email traffic to the Lists. I don't know the procedures for checking this in other email browsers, but PLEASE turn it off. Some of you DO have it turned on, because we are getting many replies. Thanks, SgtGeorge

The way the descendent report runs seems to be dependent on where this event is listed for Male A. If I list it in the correct chronological order, ie as occurring BEFORE Male A's marriage to Female C, then the report does not differentiate whose child the result of the first union was and I get the problem I first contacted you about. However, if I list the Engagement last in Male A's events (ie not in correct chronological order) then the report separates out the various events and says Male A and Female C were married and had the following children, then goes on and says Male A and Female B were engaged to be married and had the following children. This solves the confusion about whose child is whose, but leaves a chronology problem in Male A's events. > >I can live with this, but is there anything else I can do? > >John L Smith >Canberra ACT Australia >johnsmith@interact.net.au >URL: http://users.interact.net.au/~plsj/ > > >-----Original Message----- >From: Ira J.
