Ira, try GE Silicone II,one dab in each corner. Place book on photo until glue sets (2 hrs), glue will completely set in 24 hours and remains flexible indefinitely. Concerning Text ASCII files: >Can I add that I also do this, and then type in the >birth/death/marriage places for each one, can this be done more >easily? Depends on the report you are talking about. I think you are talking about the descendants report. It doesn't list all the dates and places that you mention above, so there is no easier way. Sorry. I haven't seen any traffic here in some time. Just wondered if there are still any subscribers. (GRIN) Hope my message about "closing" the List didn't scare any of you off, or confuse you. All "closing" did was to ensure that no one could subscribe without first having me see the request, and then, no one may post if he/she is not a subscriber. This cuts out all those "ads" for vacations, mailing lists, "get rich schemes", sexual things, etc. Is CFT now so good that no one is having ANY problems? Come on you guys, if you have questions or problems, this is the place to air them. Let's hear from you. SgtGeorge CFT-WIN List Administrator

Ira, I frequently send descendant list reports through email. So far, the easiest way I have found to do this is to perform a print preview of the descendant list report and select the "SaveText" to output the report to a text file. The problem is that there are leading spaces in the text file which do not allow the formatting to be preserved in an email message. Selecting the "left justify" button does not solve the problem because the formatting of the descendant chart is lost and the report is even more difficult to read. Currenty, I create the text file and try to delete the first 20 spaces or so of each line to provide a "clean" text file. Do you know of an easier way to output a "clean" text file? Thanks, Jeff mailto:jeff.murphy@worldnet.att.net
Some of you have been confused by my last email. If you are currently a subscriber, you need do nothing to continue. Everything will be just as it was before for any- one already subscribed. The difference is, if you get automatically dropped by the "robot" at RootsWeb after the requisite "bounces" when your server is having problems, or if your mailbox gets full, you will then have to re-subscribe. At that point, the "robot" at RootsWeb will no longer subscribe you as before. Instead, the email will be forwarded to me for my action. Then, I will manually re-subscribe, or subscribe a new user, after checking to see if the address is on the "good" list or on the "bad" list. (GRIN) Yes, I do keep such lists. It became necessary in order to remove and keep removed some trouble makers on various Lists. You will continue to use the same address for sending email and the same address for subbing or unsubbing that was used before. Now, there is one thing you should be concerned about. If you use a server that is constantly having problems and you keep getting unsubbed and having to resub, I "might" have you on a "bad" list. This is no great problem -- all you have to do in such a case is send me a private email (given below), explaining what the problem was and whether it is fixed or not. Let me state right now that the only server I have had problems with lately is WebTV.Net. Phillips, Magnavox, and the other companies involved in the WebTV Net should have to receive, edit, and answer one million emails a day to atone for their poor organi- zation. I don't mean to start a "flame" thread, so DON'T any of you answer this part on the Lists. It's just that if you do use this service, you may keep getting automatically unsubbed by the software at RootsWeb and after several such unsubs, I might put you on the "bad" list. (Again, GRIN) Just be careful not to let your mailbox fill up, no matter which server you use. Those full mailboxes are really annoying. To recap, you DO NOT have to do anything to stay on the List(s) to which you subscribe. The only difference you will notice is that you will not see all those shameless ads for real estate, sex, etc., etc. That SHOULD be to the liking of all of you. So, now let's get on with our genealogy searches without all the distractions of nudnik advertisers. Enjoy. SgtGeorge
Dear subscribers of the Lists I manage at RootsWeb: I have put it off as long as I could! Henceforth, all the 11 Lists that I manage at RootsWeb will be "closed". What this means is that, instead of being automatically subscribed to a List by sending an email to RootsWeb, a new user's email will be sent to me, the Listowner, and he/she will not be added as a subscriber until I manually add him/her. Also, NO ONE will be allowed to post to any of the Lists I manage unless he/she is a Subscriber. This will cut out ALL SPAM, all obnoxious users that I have on my reject list, etc. Of course, there will be some who slip through and post trash messages, but after the first one, that person will be manually subscribed and never let back on again, at least using the same email address. If he/she changes email addresses there is nothing I can do until he/she again posts something unsuitable. I'm sorry, but the amount of unsolicited SPAM, both commercial and sex-oriented, has reached the point where I MUST do this! >From now on (as soon as I unsub all guilty parties) there will be NO "sex-ads", no real estate ads, no "multi-level marketing" ads (read that pyramid schemes), nor any other off-topic subject from mass emailers. I hope you all agree with this. If you do NOT, please DO NOT answer here on the List. Send me private email to my personal email address and I WILL answer you. Your List Administrator, SgtGeorge

Try using the Fix Relationships to first disconnect the duplicated children - then re-connect them. You may have to disconnect all relationships from a particular family (if disconnecting and reconnecting children only doesn't work). To do this disconnect all children and disconnect the husband from wife also. Then try reconnecting everyone back together again. Hope this works. Hello all, I have obviously pressed a wrong button and disconnected all sorts of things! I finally sorted it all out and re-connected all the children to the right parents, but now find that in so doing have got the same child (and assorted spouses) entered twice but with the same IRN. If I delete one I must delete both. I cannot merge (tried that and my poor PC went ape!) as I am trying to merge identical details! 8 children have become 16! How do I get rid of the duplicated children?? I did consider rebuilding key files but not quite brave enough to try that one in case I make things worse! Would appreciate any help! You can create a WMF or an ASCII text. The ASCII text looses the boxes. The WMF is only good for those with MS-Word or some viewer that can look at it. Dear Moira As Ira told you, the IRN is for permanent reference to a record. However, you may wish to use the standard event REFN (User Reference Number) for any personal numbering system you wish to use. If it is of any use is another question. I wonder. Kind regards, Jens >I'd just like to be able to re-number or re-index them all! >Hoping you (or someone out there) can help, but thanks for the thought,
