I also have a ZIP drive so I can do some experimentation to see if this is the problem. Thanks, Ira ---------------------------------------------------------- Ira J. 3. Ira, I still get an error 160 occasionally when I try to backup to my zip drive. All backups to my hard drive (drive C) at the time I close out of CFT are successful. I solve any fears of loosing data by frequently doing a full system backup on my Zip drive, which seems to work fine. I hope this helps. Chuck Edgerly Ira J. The large one never backs up when I exit (I get the error message) and the smaller ones always backs up properly. Can anyone tell me how to fix this or is this a bug? Thankyou, Judie

    3. To Ira and french users, Cft-Win 3 includes UCC 1.2. The french republicain calendar used is modified form from UCC 1.0. Using this calendar, three republican years are wrong : - 01 vend 04 giving 22/09/1795 instead 23/09/1795 - 01 vend 08 giving 22/09/1799 instead 23/09/1799 - 01 vend 12 giving 23/09/1803 instead 24/09/1803 Original form in UCC 1.0 gived right conversion for years 01-15. 1. CFT-Win Ver 3 - Languages
    2. Ira J. Lund
    3. I seem to be having troubles with Fonts other than Western Europe (Latin-1) in the new Ver 3. Let me tell you a bit about the languages and we'll go from there. I categorize the world's languages into 4 groups: Group 1: Western Europe (Latin-1) which use the normal ANSEL windows characters. Group 2: Other alphabet based languages which write left-to-right: Eastern European, Cyrillic and Greek, as well as most Indian languages like Hindi, Gujarati, Bengali, etc. and most other languages in the world. Group 3: Right-to-Left alphabetic languages: Hebrew and Arabic. Group 4: Ideographic languages: Chinese, Japanese and Korean. Group 1 Languages are basically taken care of even in Ver 2. Group 2 is the next group I am trying to accomodate. (I hope to be able to also eventually be able to allow Group 3 and 4 but with 4 maybe somewhat limited.) But what I am finding is that my program has problems with the current fonts that Microsoft distributes with Windows. Specifically I am experimenting with "Arial Greek" and "Arial CYR" (Cyrillic). I can get certain strings, entry boxes and lists to use these fonts but other controls won't. The problem is definately my computer language problem. But on further thoughts I begin to realize that I could have major problems in distributing a language file which uses certain fonts as a person in Russia or Poland may not have the font that was set for in my language file. Anyway, I am not certain what I am looking for here, other than maybe those in Eastern Europe, Russia or Greece that may be using CFT-Win, can you tell me anything about what the standard fonts are that are in use? I do have a problem with copyright if I try to distribute any of these fonts with CFT-Win. Another idea is to purchase from a font vendor the rights to certain fonts which I would ask those in other countries to use. But as far as the Microsoft Arial CYR and Arial Greek fonts I am thinking that they may have something in them (some unicode marker) that won't allow them to be used in my program, but that other fonts - without these standard markers may be able to be used in the program. Any ideas on any FREEWARE Greek, Eastern Europe and Cyrillic fonts? Thanks, Ira ---------------------------------------------------------- Ira J. 1. CFT-Win Ver 3 - Icons
    2. Ira J. Lund
    3. I have figured out the problem with the missing icons. In fact, now that I know what the problem is - I do not believe that anyone has seen any icons in the LIST box between MARR and SEX. I thought that all icons got compiled into the final EXE file. But on further looking today I have discovered that those in the list boxes are not compiled into the EXE and I must force them to be included - which is where it should be in the next beta. Thanks for all the messages that you have all tried to help me find this problem. Ira ---------------------------------------------------------- Ira J. 2. Steven J. Frome
    3. I have recently run a descendent story report and notice that some events are not printing. I have entered 3 marriages and 3 divorces for one IRN. When the story prints, only the marriages are listed. The divorces are not included in the story for any of the spouses. Isn't this report supposed to print all the events that are included in the IRN? STEVEN J.
